Anonymous, 02 Aug 2020No you don't. You enable it on the quick panel and it ... moreYes, the tab S5e doesn't really need an adapter to turn its 10.5" screen into a desktop interface. But you may still want to use an adapter if you want a bigger screen than the tablet.
I personally use DEX mode when I want to play/project 4K videos stored in my tab S5e to my big screen TV. Wireless mirroring is convenient but there is degradation in playback smoothness and video quality especially for high bit rate videos (4K). Wired connection is still best especially for high bit rate 4K videos for maximum video quality and smoothness (no stutters, frame skips or quality loss from video compression).
For that wired connection, I use a third party USB C to HDMI adapter (UGREEN). I enable DEX mode and the tablet becomes a mousepad. The reason I enable DEX mode in the wired connection is so that the 16:9 TV doesn't mirror the 16:10 tablet screen which creates ugly black bars all around a 16:9 movie or video I'm viewing.

Extrapolating, that's around 10hrs offline movie watching with screen mirrored to smart TV via Wifi direct. It may last longer if you only watch the offline download on the tablet screen as wifi is off. Streaming directly Netflix using mobile LTE data will certainly give you shorter viewing time than that because LTE consumes a lot of battery.

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2020Yes you can send and receive calls from the tab S5e. I meant only the LTE version of the Tab S5e can make or receive voice calls. The WIFI only version cannot because there's no SIM slot.

Anonymous, 26 Jul 2020I said many times why I don't PREFER Nova launcher on ... moreI actually tried to help you setup Nova launcher so you can increase icon size and be able to swipe up anywhere in the screen, just like the default Samsung launcher, to access the app drawer.
You said you use Nova launcher on your phone so I don't understand what makes it weird in a tablet. But if you really prefer Samsung's limited launcher, then you can continue complaining about its small icon sizes. I won't bother anymore.

It's called user experience, being able to change things without fiddling around elsewhere. This is mainly a problem of the integrated launcher by Samsung.

Icons were bigger on Android 9 with this tablet and native launcher. I'm sure you still don't get it but whatever.

I don't have a defective S5e, it's you who are unhappy with it so now you know who's bitter. You also complained about icon sizes and claim to use Nova launcher and have an android phone since 201, but until now, don't know how to set icon sizes and DP settings (Minimum width) in developer options. Now you know who's ignorant. :)

Just try inputting 300dp in the 'Minimum width' under your tab S5e's developer options so you'll see just how insanely illiterate you are in terms of android customization. The icons and text will be larger but you can adjust the font sizes and reduce them in settings - display - font size and style.
Now you can also ICON SIZE adjustments in Nova launcher Prime - REGARDLESS of 'Minimum width (DP)" settings you set in the developer options but the maximum and minimum icon sizes attainable with Nova launcher Prime will be different under different "Minimum width (DP)" settings. To enable developer options, go to settings - about tablet - software information. Tap 'build number' several times until it says 'you are now a developer'.
There I've just spoonfed everything to you. Now you try it so you won't look mentally challenged.

You've been using android since 2012 yet you don't know how to set DP settings in developer options to increase sizes of objects you see on the screen? DP settings are independent of the icon sizes. A standard 100% icon and text size under a DP setting (Minimum width) of 300 will be HUGE while the same 100% icon and text size under a DP setting (Minimum width) of 1000 will make BOTH much smaller. Try it! And if you don't know how to enable developer options, you can Google it!
You can further adjust icon sizes in custom launchers like Nova Prime REGARDLESS/INDEPENDENT of DP settings which gives you additional control over icon sizes, grid and overall interface.
