Samsung Galaxy Tab S8

I bought my Tab S8 a month ago on a sale with 25% discount and for that price I'm very satisfied with it. It's far from perfect, but it is indeed one of the best devices to date. So I will mention a few points from my experience with it.
1. The screen. The main drawback as expected is that the blacks are not totally black and Samsung has been trying to hide this flaw by setting a red-brownish wallpaper while selling or advertising it. Comparing it to the screen of my 5 years old Galaxy S8+ smartphone (which btw had been burned in multiple screen areas from the extensive usage and mistreating) it looks far worse on black screens. Secondly, a yellowish tint can be noticed on white screens. But, surprisingly it does not much have to do with the TFT technology, the same you can see on Tab S8 plus and Tab S8 Ultra, I compared all of them and there is not a significant difference on the displays of the three of them, although the latest two have amoled displays. So I would not recommend to spend more on buying the bigger amoled versions just for the display type. And there is a positive side when considering that TFT doesn't suffer from the issue of screen burning after extensive usage (it has happenned to me multiple times).
For gaming and watching videos the display is quite good, the high refresh rate and the wide viewing angles give an overall nice experience.
2. The processing power. Nothing to complain about here. It's just the best to date. Many resource hungry apps which I tried run without a single issue, no lags, no stuttering, no glitches, no crashes, everything as it should be. The GPU is exceptional too.
3. The sound. There is no 3,5 mm jack, but who cares? 99% of the time I use it indoors on loudspeakers and they are more than good for a tablet, I don't see any need to connect an external BT speaker or earphones so far.
4. The size. 11 inches is on the small size for productivity as you usually put it on a desk and connect a keyboard and a mouse, but careful! For gaming it's on the big side, as you keep it in your hands which may be not an adequate distance to protect your eyes. The brightness is good enough for most of the environments and you rarely will need to set it at the maximum.
5. Connectivity. My model is the wi-fi only version, as I don't need a dedicated sim card just for the tablet, when I need internet my phone's hotspot does the job perfectly. Mirroring on a big screen TV takes no struggle at all. The GPS connection is quite good too and you can use it as a car navigator too (if you don't mind an 11 inches screen for this purpose). Transferring files through USB, wi-fi or bluetooth is as it should be.
6. The operating system. Android 12 doesn't exactly bring anything new to put it on edge compared to earlier versions, maybe any security features and other stuff that one doesn't neccessarily notice. There is so called DEX feature which aims to bring a desktop experience by giving a Windows-like look, but that is nothing mire than just a launcher. I prefer in an android tablet the classic android view much better.
The frustration of not being able to access the android data folder directly is there again.
Conclusion.
The Tab S8 is a powerful device and worth to have for the right price. And despite of a number of drawbacks, it still remains one of the few best devices to date. If you need a device for multiple purposes, then it is one of the first to be taken into consideration.

My best tablet by far. Sound is amazing. 4 speakers Display is beautiful and size is good for watching movies, YouTube etc. I can use my tablet for sending text mgs and can call from it. With calls and texts to other devices which was on tab s5e is grood to have. The only thing I lose my spen easily because its on the back. But thankfully I manage to find it. Not a big problem though.

I have it and it so slow now. Not sure if it was samsung way of forcing you to upgrade or not but i have owned phones from other brand but i did not experienced the same slowing down compared to samsung phones that I've owned.

If I compare the screen quality of my new Galaxy Tab S8 11 inches with the screen quality of my old Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 inches, the S4 screen is slightly better. This is certainly due to the fact that the PPI value (274 ppi) of the new tablet is slightly inferior to the PPI of the old one (287 ppi). Otherwise, everything is better on the new tablet.

I know have to many multiple adapters to listen with earphones, headphones, lightning adapters as well as USB-C.
Nothing like being on a 7 hour flight and realize your adapters is gone.!

Gorilla glass?I assumed this meant really hard tough glass and not even remotely capable of being scratched. Wrong! Just about 2 months, I have a deep 2 inch scratch. Tab has protective book cover and meticulously cared for. I had a Tab s3 for 12 years , no screen protector, and not one scratch. $900 for this and already scratched. Should be a replacement warranty.
Anyway, I ordered a screen protector and suggest anyone else should too.

A high end TFT has better colour accuracy, better viewing angles and better life span than the low end AMOLED.

farble1670, 30 May 2022S5E has a better AMOLED display.I own tab s5e and now tab s8 I can can say that s8 looks just as amazing no matter what kind of display it has.. There is no difference that I can see when on both s5e and s8 .
