I have a few cheap tablet, which doens't recognise many file format as well.
Those tablet also has issue playing high compression format.
Other small format just playing fine.
I would suggest install 3rd party media apps would solve those issue.
I did it with my cheap tablet as well.

You can easily solve these problem by installing 3rd party media player, such as MX player, which support full range of codec or video file. (RMVB, .MOV)
The tab is fully capable to play very high quality video file, which need much more processing power to play.

Well, tested the OTG, it can detect USB drive.
(In fact, all my device can detect USB storage)
However, no luck to run on external HDD.
May be my external HDD need more power to drive.

Screen wise, both are incredible.
Performance wise, of course Note 3 is better.
The Note 3 has better camera, processor, NFC, and S Pen.
The only different is Note 3 is a 5.7" phone, Tab S are tablet, with full phone function.
You should put S5 into comparison as well, with updated better processor and camera.
But, please forget about S5 water resistant ability.

Well, the only drawback are no NFC, and no Gorilla Glass, no S Pen (well this is not a Galaxy Note device, but no big deal either)
Apart from that, it is a very capable phablet.
It has the same IR Blaster, Finger Print reader, WiFi Direct feature, Group Play feature (downloadable via Samsung Store). It can paired with Galaxy Gear as well.
The screen is QHD resolution, which is the highest resolution available today. The high 359 ppi make you can't see any pixel at all.
In fact, it is a good AMOLED screen, with much less saturated color than other Samsung model, which to my surprise, I like it.
The overall 6.6mm thin form factor make it look good, but also make it a bit hard to hold.
Game like Asphalt 8, Real Racing 3, can be played smoothly without any noticeable frame drop or lag. Video playback is just that awesome.
The stereo speaker is side firing, would be nice if it is made to front firing.
The camera has flash, and 8 megapixel is adequate.
It is thinner than a Sony Xperia Z Ultra.
The Micro SD and Micro Sim slot is at the right side of the tab, with flap to cover the slot.
All in all, this is a much better buy than a comparable tab/phalet like iPad Mini (Retina), Tab 4 8.0, or Tab Pro 8.4.

My reviews after a month of used
Pros:
1.Battery life is good
2.Performance, fast n multitasking(3gb ram)
3.Price + looks luxury/exclusive appearance
4.Portable rather than larger tablet
5.Good Features
Cons
1.No Corning Gorilla Glass (can apply 9h tempered glass)
2.Front camera were not so natural
3.my tab's home key button were loose n squeaky
4.must buy the full/book cover, the back cover were fragile.. Be aware if you really want to take care of this piece of awesome
5.some apps is not compatible such as whatsapp (directly at play store.
Whatsapp? Not a problem , i already installed it on my tab s 8.4.. Download the app/apk at the whatsapp's website then download 1mobile lite and install as usual in the 1mobile lite app. Thats what i did.

Well, apparently the Gallery glitch is because of the memory card, where the tab have problem or take too long to prepare the Micro SD card. I may find other Micro SD card if those has the same problem. The 32GB card is working fine on my other tab, which just take around 5 second to fully loading the card content.

This... moreIt aint that new, definitely the latest samsung tablet out now and there are various covers out.If u don't get covers in the place you live, order them from eBay or various online sites, that's what I did

Hope it do not have 4g band support in Indian versions, could anybody clarify this, and the processor is also Samsung Exynos. So i doubt whether i would be able to use 4G when i use it outside india? Pls clarify if anybody has bought it in india n used in 4G sim

Hi peeps
So far i gpt samsung s4 note 3 and s8.4 tab
This tab is quite new so the os is quite glitchy, galary keeps crashing but other than that its fast slim and amazing, pitty its so new that even samsung has not come out with covers yet, im too scared to use it with out a cover, extremely pricy, for what it has to offer, too little ram for what it can handle.
Personally i should have rather gone for a note 8.0
