I should add that I usually try to restart my phone once a week (when I remember) but never restart my watch unless there is some compelling reason to do so.

And my A35, which is a landline replacement. They never get turned off. And the only time they get rebooted is when there is a software update.

The only other comment I would make for preference of my watch 5 is the flat watch face which would give slightly better protection from knocks or scratches. By the way I got my watch 5 as a free promotion from Telstra in Australia for buying the s23 when it was first released. Probably the best deal I have made.

scorpio, 14 Jan 2025Do you turn your watch off every time you charge it? If so ... moreI have always turned them off. For me, the switching function works faster that way. And I typically only charge the watches when they are off. I've been doing for the last four years. Since I started using two Galaxy watches.

I charge my watch 5 every morning while I'm in the shower and I simply place it directly onto the charger. It normally has between 35% - 40% charge left by morning and takes a little more than 1 hour to charge. In the 2 years that I have had this watch I think I've only turned it off perhaps 3 times.

For me, the biggest change was the boot time. From around sixty seconds to around twenty. And I change my Galaxy Watches typically twice every weekday, so that was the biggest reason I changed out both of my older watches to the Watch7. I wear one to work and I wear the other at all other times. So I change them in the evening, when I get home. And also in the morning, before I go to work.
But, with the new SoC it is also faster for navigation etc. I only paid around $60 out of pocket for my first Watch7 and around $100 out of pocket for my second Watch7. Which, for me, was easily worth it.

Samsung Health has now been updated as have the watch faces and I cannot imagine why I would want to update to Watch 7. You would need to convince me that Watch 7 can do so much more useful apps than my Watch 5, and not just gimmicks. For me Watch 5 is brilliant.

aaronwt, 31 Dec 2024When I looked online the reason given was a design change. ... moreIt's the same design as Watch6. Maybe inside was something changed more from design side, but watch7 looks for me almost the same or the same like watch6. Add watch7 strap and i'm sure nobody will not say that this is not watch7 if will be see just in watch, not inside settings.

aaronwt, 31 Dec 2024The Watch7 is much, much better than the Watch6. I ended up... moreYou mentioned only SoC and Watch7 much much better? One thing? :) I have Watch6 and i am happy that did not waited Watch7, lost reverse charging, design the same, features the same or almost the same. Memory 16GB for me is too much, so about 32GB i do not talking at all. For better GPS (in watch6 for me it working very good too) and newer processor which in watch do not giving any big meaning, but enough big price... really so much better? :) Kid, i congratulate you with your new watch, but do not write here nonsenses. Watch7 of course is better neither watch6, but not so much as you trying to paint here like DaVinci. Watch7 just got some small update which had to get, in other way ask yourself, why to release the same watch, wihtout any changes? But it's not so big update from watch6. Ultra is big update, but ultra cost double or maybe more as watch7 and have for me very ugly design. So watch6 these days is very good choice. I updated from Active2, so would be big update if i would buy watch now, i would buy watch7, but from watch6 to update to watch7 is big nonsense. If someone have watch6, safe your money and let's wait newer models. There is already some rumors about watch8 already. Watch6 i have almost year and i have almost all the same features like watch7 have.

I ended up upgrading both my Watch5 and Watch6, to a Watch7. INstead of my normal upgrade pattern of just upgrading my oldest watch each year. Because of the new SoC in the Watch7. It made a gigantic difference with the new penta-core processor compared to the old dual-core processor. Heck, the much quicker bootup time alone was worth the upgrade.
Losing the reverse wireless charging option was still worth the upgrade. Although, it's a feature I used less than 1% of the time.

"The new design of the Watch 7 has increased the distance between the watch's internal wireless charging coil and the charging surface, preventing it from being charged using the Wireless PowerShare feature on phones like the S24 Ultra".

I sold a Samsung Watch 7 at a huge loss after the rotation of the screen glass suffered a click as a result of impacts and it was not a fall from a height. As a result of Samsung not protecting the screen glass with the metal frame of the watch.. and the watch glass protruded from the metal frame and as a result of these scratches next to the watch glass I sold it.. Samsung must protect the screen glass inside the metal frame and not make the glass easily scratched during use, especially since the hands do not stop moving... The beauty of the design must not be At the expense of protecting the watch glass...

V.V.V., 08 Sep 2024Would it still be a watch without AOD? Or is the gesture go... moreFor my use I always keep AOD on, with moderate use I got more than 24 hours of battery life, but when planning for heavy use i usually turn of the AOD, the gesture is very convenient.
