bunyip22, 22 Jul 2024My GW7 LTE 44mm arrived today, my initial thoughts after 6 ... moreFurther to below.

I just went out for a 5km jog and 2km walk.

Based on an aerial, the GPS accuracy on the GW6 was +/- 6 to 8m with a few trees around.
The GPS accuracy on the GW7 is more like was +/- 1 to 2m.

Over 2 hours with screen always on while running and walking, it used 9%.

Prior to that, charging from 81% to full took 23 minutes which feels noticeably faster than the GW6. The GW7 said it would be 32 minutes.

Heart rate feels more accurate / smoother with less unexplained spikes but is hard to quantify on a constant speed run.

If you use the GW6 for fitness, the GW7 is certainly worth the update imho.

My GW7 LTE 44mm arrived today, my initial thoughts after 6 hours use are:

The "Green" watch is more of a medium grey and looks great, certainly better than the black GW6.
I went the dark gray band, not the green, and it relay should be standard.
The band accents and the orange and wite accents on the button edges are a nice touch.
It is certainly a lot snappier.

I charges up from 75%. I'm not sure if the charger is faster than 10 watts but it was certainly quicker than the GW6 which gets slow over the last 5%. The GW6 charger and GW7 charger were showing the same time.

I haven't had it long enough to test GPS accuracy or battery life.

The case around the watch has thicker wings which connect to the bands and look good.

The only potential downside is that the glass sits about 1mm above the case sides while the GW6 was nearly flush. It might be easier to shatter if you hit something.

The buckle is more of a brushed silver. Really it should be a darker grey to match the watch case.

AND the backup recover of settings from my GW6 didn't work. Took a bit of time setting up from scratch but probably better to clean out unused apps.

kolabioz, 10 Jul 2024What about NFC ?What about it? That is one feature I do not use because it requires a passcode or pattern. Which makes it useless to me. And then when I switch watches, I need to enter a passcode again, before the watch can be used. WHich I will typically forget.

Although I haven't tested it with the Wtach7, but I would think it would be like my Watch6 and Watch5.

Although, I need to send my Watch5 in for the trade in. $70 for the Wtach7 was a great deal, with the $200 trade in for my Watch5.

Anonymous, 12 Jul 2024What I do not understand is why people that own galaxy watc... moreI have no need for a watch to last seven days. Worst case, I would charge it every day.
I would rather the watch be lighter and only last a few days, than for it to be thicker and heavier and last seven days.

Anonymous, 12 Jul 2024What is even worse is that is with everything turned off to... moreWhy would you turn everything off? That is the last thing I would do.

So far, my Watch7 is lasting longer than my Watch6 did.

sanshiro, 21 Jul 2024I'm experiencing battery issues. It doesn't last... moreI got my Watch7 on Saturday. And, so far, I have not run into any battery issues. But I have only charged it once, so far, when I got it Saturday.

              I'm experiencing battery issues.
It doesn't last a day and drains very quickly. I have turned off the sensors, but it still drains while on standby. I performed all updates.

I didn't have this problem with my Watch 4, even with all sensors on.

alisn, 16 Jul 2024why did they remove the rotating crown ! it was amazing What are you saying, just receive the Watch7 (40mm), replacing my old Active 2 and the rotating bezel is present :-) My only grip with this new smartwatch is that you need a cellphone with Android 11 or better, other than that I love it.

just traded my Active2 in for the 7 after seeing the deal on it. got $100 trade in value for it. had my Active2 for 3 years and wanted to upgrade!

Is it good idea to buy watch 7
                        Or watch 6
Currently using watch 4 44mm lte

Surely a 30 gram device on your wrist could provide most functions of a phone, LTE etc and still last a week on one charge.... With the screen always on...

What is even worse is that is with everything turned off to get the most battery out of the Galaxy watches. What is the point of the darn watch if all the stuff is turned off?

What I do not understand is why people that own galaxy watches, say that the watches have great battery but there is Garmin and Amazfit have way the hell better battery length compared to galaxy watches. Holy cow, it is pathetic that galaxy watches all these years of releases, and they still can't pass the week mark on battery. Even the Galaxy Ultra is still not even a week long battery, and their most expensive watch. That is pathetic. I would of bought one but every time I think of doing it, I think of my Amazfit GTR 3 Pro that does 12 days normal usage, and my GTR 3 that does 21 days, and even Garmin has better battery usage. Until Samsung can figure that their battery sucks, then I will never by one of those galaxy watches ever. I do not want to charge my watch same time I charge my phone.
