Dinesh, 01 Sep 2013Where is XXAMH2 update. I m not getting it...Hello Dinesh, as per your earlier post I think you already have the latest version. Check in settings> About device -> scroll down to the last line and check the build number. It should show .... I8552XXAMH2. However, the baseband version is AMH1 version. Aloke

AnonD-150808, 31 Aug 2013Mine was already updated to i8552 when i bought itThat's good, may be the shop from where you purchased had a latest/recent stock. In my case I had to do three firmwire updates on the first day(I purchased in first week of Aug) to make it I8552XXAMG1 and today I updated to I8552AMH2- so already I have done 4 updates! Anyway, it's really nice that we can do the updates through 3G/wifi without going through the hassles of service centre! I can imagine what would have been the situation if it would have been a Micromax/Karbonn phone since they normally don't support OTA(On the Air) FW update. I am now hoping for the 4.2 Jelly bean update for Quattro since for Grand Samsung is already releasing 4.2 version.

AnonD-180031, 28 Aug 2013hey aloke, thanks for the awesome battery review.. wh... moreHello Kashif, with the kind of usage you have mentioned, you need to charge the phone at least twice a day- once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Today I was using facebook continuously over 3G and in one hour battery discharged from 81% to 64%- so about 17% discharge which means in 6 hours your battery would become 0% (from 100%). I was suprised because this means the battery drain during facebook is exactly same as youtube video streaming using 3G. May be youtube app is better optimized for low power compared to Facebook! It's not a good idea to drain battery below 30%(battery voltage becomes low and 3G signal might become weak and it might drain battery faster)- so if you just use facebook continuously for 4 hours(over 3G) in Quattro your battery would become about 30% (starting from 100%) and you need to charge again! This is not Samsung's problem since almost all 3G modules drain about 500mA-700mA peak current. I would say Samsung has optimized the 3G battery drain quaite a bit but still it is not meeting expectations of those who use 3G very heavily. I have seen mobiles whose 3G battery drain is even worse than this. Good part is Samsung has given a fast 1Amp charger so the 2000mAH battery gets charged fully in about 2Hrs. In fact, you can charge your battery from 30% to 80% in just one hour which is good for charging it during some break time!

Anyway, by looking at the kind of usage you have mentioned I think you should go for a mobile with at least 3000mAH battery like the Galaxy note2. However, you need to compromise on the Dual SIM feature since Note2 won't support dual SIM.

I noticed that after the latest XXAMH2 software update which I have done today, phone doesn't get heated as much as it used to be earlier while using 3G, so I would test it again by next week with this new updated software and update you whether there is any improvement in 3G battery life with this new software update.
BTW, due to recent change in GSMArena's policy now to post immediately I had to register before posting and the nickname "aloke" was not available- so now onwards I would post using the nickname "alokeb".

AnonD-150808, 30 Aug 2013This phone is absolutly great, it has satisfied me with eve... moreYes, I agree with you. It's a great phone for most of the common usages of smartphone(except heavy gaming/Full HD video playback). Just if the Camera quality was a bit better then it would have been a perfect phone. The camera quality is pretty good for a phone of this price range, but not so good as Grand/S3/S4.

Tanu, 31 Aug 2013Can galaxy win play full hd video (1080p and 720p).and what... moreIt can play 720p videos very easily using Mx player(in SW decoder mode) or Vlc media player beta. The stock/default video player doesn't support 720p. Regarding 1080p: if the bit rate is low like less than 10mbps, it would play with some lag(in MX player SW mode) but higer bitrate 1080p videos won't play. This is one of the disadvantages of this phone compared to Galaxy Grand since Grand can play 1080p videos due to better GPU.

AnonD-180597, 30 Aug 2013for better performance update your device to I8552DDAMH1Hello Pratik, thanks for your post. From your post I realized that a new software update has been released since earlier I had updated till the XXAMG1 version and today when I checked the staus of Software update I found there is a new update available. The description of the update said "Improved stability". After installing the update internet browsing using the default Samsung browser has become super fast- almost as fast as my Galaxy Tab2 10.1(which supports a 21Mbps 3G). Earlier there used to be some lags in opening pages but now pages are opening almost immediately after clicking- that too I am using just a 3.6Mbps Aircel 3G SIM. I am sure with a 7.2Mbps SIM(max speed supported by Quattro) browsing would be even more better!. I am yet to find any other improvements in this update. The camera flickering issue in fluoroscent light/tube light(which I mentioned in an earlier post) is still there. I hope Samsung fixes it in next update. Thanks Samsung for the update!

Tanu, 31 Aug 2013Can galaxy win play full hd video (1080p and 720p).and what... moreHello Tanu, Quattro plays 720p videos very smoothly using Mx Player/ Vlc player (default player cant play 720p and for Mx player you need to use S/W decoder. H/W decoder doesn't work for 720p). Quattro cannot play 1080p videos properly. If it's a low bitrate 1080p video (less than 10 mbps) it might play with some lag (in Mx player S/w decoder) but high bitrate 1080p videos wont play at all. So in summary, it plays 720p videos but doest play 1080p videos.
