Still hoping this phone gets released to the public next week. I've had my S7 Active since 2016 and am ready to upgrade to a newer rugged device with updated specs.

If it doesn't, I'm thinking of just pulling the trigger and getting the S20. Would rather not drop that kind of money on a phone though.

What happened to the galaxy s active lineup is my main concern, like why ....we need love to you know!!!

Mark_S, 29 Jan 2020This is a Galaxy S7 Active Redux. My thoughts exactly...

I mean, first responders have to buy cell phones just like anybody else. If our dept provides anything that needs ruggedness, it’s gonna be a normal 2 way hand carry radio.

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2020Looks cheaper than Xcover Pro. But is it a first-responders... moreXcover 4s was also marketed as first responders phone, an yet you can buy it at your local tech store.

NoWorldOrder, 16 Jan 2020There are better rugged phones available than just Samsung,... moreUlefone, Blackview, and Doogee are all manufactured in China. I wouldn't trust a phone manufactured in China for the same reason the USA is blocking Huawei's 5G rollout. They all have backdoors installed for the Communist party. The Chinese government gets to watch everything you do.

I want a small phone with a big battery. I'm disappointed that this has a small 5 inch screen but a massive bezel. I won't fit in my shirt pocket, which is a requirement for me. I don't like that most new phones these days are 6 inch+.

It seems it's coming. At least to the US.

There are better rugged phones available than just Samsung, CAT, and Kyocera, gsmarena doesn't cover them for some reason. Namely, Ulefone, Blackview, and Doogee. Much better, plus, fair pricing. Only downside seems to be that they're mainly available on AliExpress.

It's got too big. This is 50% heavier than the Xcover 4, and longer , wider and more than 50% thicker. The Xcover 4 is already too big, the Xcover 3 was a much more pocketable size. They need to remake the Xcover 3 with more memory instead. Also, this says the battery is not removeable, surely that is a mistake? The previous models have always enabled carrying a spare battery and also replacing the battery easily when it deteriorates after a year or 2.

As this is not a suitable replacement for my Xcover 4 due to the above, can anyone recommend some alternatives I can check out? Thank you.
