I am getting used to the downgrade from the Galaxy Note 4 to this. It does not take bad pictures of your regular family pics types. Did some low light shots and video with blood red moon rising in low dusk light. It preformed reasonably, well as long as you do not use digital zoom at all. Then you get some rough edges. Even with that by keeping the camera steady I was able to get some good quality low light pics of people holding the rising moon in their hand at 1/3 digital zoom. But basically a point shoot basic camera.
Earlier in I was taking tons pictures of a garden area at sunset. I tried out the "Pro mode" feature. This allows you to refine the colors/contrasts/tints and then take your shot, especially with shadows in the garden. Basically like using photo shop before you take the picture. It does help make the colors more realistic to your eye then how the phone camera is sensing them. But its like whats the point?. Just take the shot and modify at home where you have a bigger screen to look at the image. But I could see using taking museum photos or colorful landscape shots and will use it sometimes.
Someone said you can get optical zoom lenses you can slip over your smart phone lenses, but probably not with my otter box defender case on it, like mine. It would be neat if there is something like that so I can get away from cartoon quality pictures with max digital zoom.
Any one ever used those on other phones?.

I like everything about my Xcover Pro--except that spare batteries are still not available. I moved to its Android 10 from my V20's Android 7, so adapting to that change was my only slight effort. I re-purposed my V20 to be an audio and video player.

When I do that on mine I feel no difference compared to the P30 Pro of a family member. Could there be something wrong with yours?

I spent over a 1000.00$ on this phone and it isn't worth 5$. Extremely slow and overly sensitive screen make daily use frustrating. I only purchased it because my old active battery was dying after 4 to 6 hours. I wish I never switched. Even writing this review is troublesome. Theres more issues but to be honest it's a pain just texting.

Just from the design and pictures I doubt it: the Pro's pogo pins are left and right of the USB-C port, while the FieldPro's pins seem closer together, as its USB-C is elsewhere (on the side, not the bottom).
Have you looked into the pogo chargers/cradles designed for the Pro?

Using the device since a week from a note 10+ which was too fragile.
The biggest cons is the poor screen with light bleed in the corners and indeed (very blue or yellow with the night filter, apparently not more tunable). You get used to it however. The second issue is that it can be very slow at some times and hang.
Otherwise it seems solid and having two sims and on top of this a third slot for a micro sd is great. Happy to have a jack and USB- C back. Battery is OK but nothing exceptional.

I just received my first SPARE battery, (45$) from Hong Kong.
The new battery arrived with 34% charge, and it's charging now in the phone, as I have not found a proper external charger as I had for the Note 4.
So far I'm quite satisfied with the XCover Pro.

Its sad that they put this camera setup in this price range. Lucky I have DSLR, but in work, or in bad weather condition is good to have nice camera in phone to make a quick photos

Bat21, Thanks for your review/comments.
Is there a difference in the phone based on purchase location, Microsoft or Samsung?
Any difference in apps from those locations?
I have an s7 Active that has multiple cracks in the case and the screen has several black spots. I need a rugged phone!
I am very interested in your further testing of photo and video capabilities.
Thanks!

Real world testing.
The camera. My biggest negative with this phone and I did buy it knowing I was dropping down in quality.
I came from a Note 4 with 3 times optical zoom and 16 MP (OIS, Autofocus, BSI sensor) Specifications: Aperture size: F2.2; Focal length: 31 mm; Sensor size: 1/2.6"; Pixel size: 1.12 μm.
Downgraded to the Xcover pro camera: Main camera: 25 MP (PDAF), Specifications: Aperture size: F1.7; Focal length: 26 mm. Second camera: 8 MP (Ultra-wide), Specifications: Aperture size: F2.2; Focal Length: 13 mm; Sensor size: 1/4"; Pixel size: 1.12 μm
I do miss the 3x optical zoom of the note 4. Because I could adjust the zoom and have the high resolution in all my pics. Basically over the years I never had any issues with the Note 4 camera and the pics were great.
Now with the Xcover in taking some basic first pictures the quality feels like it about 60% to 75% the quality of my note 4 pics. Some pics look great and others with the digital zoom, you notice the picture quality is rougher and frankly are kinda garbage. But I really wish they had included an optical zoom in this camera. The camera is pretty basic by today standards. If they had put in camera like a note 4 camera (2016 technology- how hard could that have been?) in this Xcover Pro, then the phone would be selling more units in my opinion.
I will do more reading and experimenting and see if I can get better use of the camera but In just basic point and shooting pics with it, I am disappointed more then I thought I would be with the camera.
But still like the rest of the phone has everything else I need, great battery life, and functionality, navigating, internet etc

Real world testing continued.
I applied a aftermarket protective glass like screen shield from Amazon a week and put it on.
I noticed when I was playing a game that my finger gestures were not getting the reaction and had to repeat sometimed times. So I increased the sensitivity for reading fingers to with gloves sensitivity. That improved things.
I think Samsung maybe should increase sensitivity values in general. Any one else have loss of sensitivity after they placed a clear glass or plastic screen protective skin on top of the orginal screen in this or other phones?
Still liking the Xcover Pro phone, love the battery life.

From a software standpoint, well... you have situations like these. Like I said before, I'll be waiting for XDA to have some fun with this phone. Import it at an expensive price and regret when a better one comes out. Or not buy, wait for a better one and contribute to the idea that phones like these do not interest the public consumer so they stop making them.
And gimp myself for another year keeping up an old phone and waiting for newer stuff.
