"Lack of optical image stabilization" Yes it has
"no ip68" MIL-STD-810G standard eats ip68 protection for breakfast
"no glass and metal but plastic" yo can pretty much shove those in the place the sun doesn't shine, Its a work phone for people who work outdoor/factory/building site. how long do you think metal and glass lasts you reckon in those environments? 3 months tops

Half price of a premium phone that you wont be so sad to see destroyed within 6 months

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2020That sucks then. Don't know what to replace the V20 now. :S... moreIn every year we got less for more money. Lack of optical image stabilization, no ip68, no glass and metal but plastic, no light sensor, no infrared , only bigger screens with more shitty cameras with bad quality. Even they give more dark aperture to the cameras... i dont know what to change from my A5 2017 ... I dont want to pay 3x more for Note or S line phones with shitty battery life, or older with dead android support. I need ip68 I work in rain.

Samsung own website says it has virtual light sensor so not actual sensor but uses camera. Just tested and seems its so. Have this as work phone and A70 as own, and battery seems last quite similary. Solid phone, like it

I have solar powered casio watch, and im using the Light sensor for calculating the time for full charge of the watch and to find thw best position/angle to the sun. :)

If dont, then we know that thia phone dont have light sensor. For me its deal breaker because im using this app.

Covering the selfie camera makes the screen go darker, and revealing it increases the brightness again. This takes 1-3 seconds and works all the time, not just when unlocking.
So it sure looks like the camera is involved, but I have no idea about the specifics. Is the camera taking an internal selfie every 3 seconds to study the light conditions? Or is there a normal ambient light sensor functionality integrated into the camera?

Anonymous, 22 Mar 2020Honestly, I can't get how camera on the phones is such a bi... moreI think there has to be a middle ground. Yes, an enterprise phone like this does not need a high end camera module, as delivery drivers and police officers are not meant to participate in photography contests.

That being said, there is a long tradition of enterprise devices trying to get away with really looow end components at extravagant prices, justified by "serious enterprise people don't care about niceties". E.g. Thinkpads are known for terrible screens to this day - "this is efficient, as it is good enough for Excel!" The actual users would probably appreciate a decent mid-range component over something that barely does the job, and such components would mean just a few bucks more, but neither the manufacturer's bean counters nor the purchasing departments are willing to take that hit.

Not sure where the XCover Pro ranks in this; I care little about image quality, so for me it really does not matter, I cannot tell the difference anyway. It just would not surprise me if the camera was below many people's standards. On the other hand I think the phone as a whole offers a lot of bang for the buck and is way more attractive to consumers than the average enterprise phone.

Perhaps because I'm a hobby photographer using a system camera and the pictures I can take and postprocess using that dedicated device are much better, really day-and-night to what even the best cell phone can do. I can't care less about the camera on a phone beyond that being able to capture a document or so if I need. To me, a phone is a phone - it shall do calling, SMSing, have a ton of good apps include those for navigation, offline maps, etc. And it shall do it reliably, even in bad weather and extreme conditions. All that camera and gaming race on smartphones is BS. What the heck does anyone need selfies for. Sorry for my bluntness on this.
