Missing physical buttons for home/menu/back ... what a joke. The project manager should be fired, Xcover brand means a tough usable phone in difficult conditions, that's why we need physical buttons. Xcover pro should be like 4S or field pro with the screwed back cover, but with the extra cameras + thermal maybe. They had the perfect design with the xcover2 then they just got worse and worse. And this is just another phone with an unreplaceable hard case.

Most people just do not get it.
What we are seeing is a whole new direction for smartphones that could entail a much more environmental and ecosystem friendly direction that we all should support.
A way that could lead us away from excessive exploitation of the earth's limited resources.
Why people don't support repairability and longevity will be asked by our children and their children.
      Wake up folks.

I bought an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Xcover Pro from Amazon with a 30 day return policy (to use with Verizon because Verizon didn't have any available yet) when it first came out based on reviews and it being designed for Military, Law Enforcement, and Worksite Uses, better able handle rugged use, cool Bixby stuff, alleged programmable buttons, great camera, and other bells and whistles. Sounds like the perfect phone for anyone really. ADVERTIZED as completely compatible with every cell phone provider's service. The first thing Samsung, Amazon, and Verizon do not tell you or make public knowledge is that you cannot download from the Google play store many of your favorite Verizon apps that would have come preloaded if you bought the exact same phone through Verizon. The second thing they don't tell you is that none of the work around alternate apps you so diligently search to find on the play store will sync or work properly with the phone, or other Verizon apps that are available, or their service without freezing your phone at times, or taking over so much control of your whole phone, and requiring you to give up all your privacy that they make your new $500+ phone useless except to make phone calls. And those not without issues as well. And that it will take you more than 30 days to find all this out which is past your return date. So my advice is, if you like certain apps preloaded by any provider and the phone NEVER BUY AN UNLOCKED PHONE FROM A NON PROVIDER OR MANUFACTURER. ALWAYS BUY FROM THE SERVICE PROVIDER. The provider phone can be unlocked around 60 days after purchase anyway. Oh and this zoomy cool phone is now nowhere to be found as being touted to be what it was a few months ago. But I had to have it at the time because it worked with my Bluetooth Phonak VA issued hearing aids and the app they upgraded to not work with my LG G5 even though it claimed to be compatible with it. So, BUYER BEWARE of the deception by omission everywhere you turn.

GalaxyMan, 23 Dec 2020This phone is awesome for business use and manufactures but... moreSamsung is keeping the advertising very low, for a purpose. They want you to buy as high prized a phone as possible.
            It's a scam.

            Citation from SAMMOBILE:
All in all, it’s a phone designed for first responders and enterprises first and foremost, but anyone who’s looking for a rugged device with a removable battery can buy and enjoy the XCover Pro as long as they don’t expect flagship-grade performance.

It's simply a great mobile to use.

This phone is awesome for business use and manufactures but I have been told by Samsung this phone NOT FOR normal consumer use because some features might not available similar to other Samsung phones.

Finally a samsung phone thats more durable but doesnt feel ancient

It is a bit early to tell for sure, but I think yesterday's system update fixed my issue with the battery drain from the CameraLightSensor system app.

But mobile phone manufacturers must have persuaded Google not to.
That is their way to get the public to buy anew.
Hindering repeatability, gluing battery, dropping headphone jacks, using all glass on backs ought to be banned.
Up until now the EU has only succeeded with the C-type
                          USB connection.
                          What a shame.

Sounds like a good functionality, something that Android should have built-in without requiring an external device. iPhones have something like this, at least my old SE claims so - I have never really looked into it. Then again, I must admit that with the XCover Pro I am not all that concerned about preserving the battery's lifespan, since it is so easy to replace.

On the iPhone it is so much unnecessary drama - making an appointment at the Apple store, going there, queueing, getting diagnostics, learning they have no replacement battery in house, making another appointment... hours and hours wasted. Going through this two years ago was merely infuriating, but doing it now with Covid raging, no thanks.

This avoids having the mobile phone at a high charge all night.
Good for the battery longevity, I have read.

Via bluetooth the phone reports the charge level to the CHARGIE that then turns off power when desired level is reached on the phone.
Good for battery longevity I have learned.

FenCPH, 02 Nov 2020No such drain here as I have turned off adaptive brightness. I have set Tasker to turn off the Adaptive Brightness system setting when the screen turns off, and back on when the screen turns on again. This seems to have brought the drainage under control. I will test again without Tasker, maybe it was just some fluke, but either way I can live with this.

Anyone else with the problem that the CameraLightSensor system app is consuming too much battery since the last system update from 30 October? It is now usually my "top" app in the Device Care/Battery Usage listing, pulling some 15% of the power per day. I understand it is responsible for the front camera to work as a sensor for adaptive screen brightness, so some activity is to be expected, but now it seems to be in overdrive.

I'm pondering just disabling adaptive brightness, or working out some smart Tasker setup. I have also sent a request to Samsung, no response yet. But maybe anyone else knows a good quick fix?
