rooted android phone is good for boost up the phone capability, but it voids the warranty.
rooted sgy is a must for certain apps, e.g : java emulator, link2sd, adobe flashplayer 11.1, and many more...
rooting a phone is ussually a safe process, but somehow I recomend to do backup before start it.
if you want to unroot, you have to get back to original rom, as all custom roms need a rooted phone.
