Galaxy Y is a brilliant phone from Samsung. Given the price tag you get almost all the features one needs. The camera is poor but then you really can't expect every thing at Rs. 7000.
The touch screen is very responsive and there is absolutely no lag. One minus point is that since the screen is small you really cant read the excel sheets or powerpoint properly though they work.
For me with the wifi and gmail sync continuously on the battery lasts about 1.5 days. Without the wifi you can extend it to 2 - 2.5 days which is reasonable enough.
Most of the games would work but some of them may drain the battery pretty fast. One 5 over game reduces the battery by 5% straight.
And yes the new phones come with 2.3.6 updated so no voice calling bug which was reported earlier.
Using the GPS and an offline mapping application like oruxmaps you can pinpoint your location very precisely without requiring internet or even a mobile network for that matter.
Overall a fantastic phone if one wants to have an experience of using an android smartphone.
