better yet, wondering if it would be possible to add camera beneath the screen and OLED layer can be used as the outer lens substitue although I don't think that technology is there yet or is it?

it would be great if Samsung can add a camera that swivels, capable to shoot selfie and other ranges.Probably positioned on top with a small notch to prevent finger prints on the lens and so forth.

i have the Galaxy Gear are amazed. this is something else. the screen is crisp. the band is really smart. overall top product.

As for Apple’s entry: Steve Jobs absence has never been so apparent. Apple's entry doesn't really meet the "Apple look" requirement and it isn't a standalone cell phone either. Looks like every other cheap Chinese wearable rectangle with a watch strap; very disappointing IMHO. The Samsung Gear S looks promising.

Glad it doesn't have a camera. All I need is 2G/3G phone and text in a stand along efficient quality screened wearable. Texting must be threaded and S voice enabled. Hoping it has a good battery life; that is key! Good bye cell phone. Hello Samsung Gear S. "Watch"ing and waiting...

what? no camera? it's a watch! it's attached to your hand. who in his right mind would shoot a picture with a watch attached to the hand? are you filming a spy movie or something?
I like this innovation already and please don't attempt to add camera on this. for one, it eats battery life and nobody wants a smartwatch that gets detached everyday just to recharge.

No camera is a little bit of disappointment, but it can connect to wifi and 3g itself without needing a smartphone and has its own sim so it seems to be a small smartphone and i'm pleased with it.

I hate to say this but, judging from the current GEAR. I wouldn't be caught dead spoting this on my arm. Applewatch on the other hand, is something I WANT to wear, there's a certain appeal and definitely more functionality to it than what SAMSUNG has done. GEAR needs a major overhaul. get rid of the plastic look and make the hardware customizable. I think then will GEAR be a real contender. Apple just pooped on every smart watch. sad

abdp, 29 Aug 2014no camera?Excellent, this is the first REAL smartwatch. The only things stopping me buying the model as soon as it's on the shelves are:
1. No front-facing camera
2. No wireless charging (but keep the micro-usb too!)
3. Cautious about Tizen/app support compared to Android
No one of these is a fatal lack, just the combination.
