In the review posted in gsmarena it states that there are limited number of apps in the android market supporting this phone.
              1) Are there sufficient apps or is it very less due to the resolution problem? I want to have an Android phone mainly because of the apps. So please tell me

              2) How is the screen clarity?

              3) How is the GPS?

Samsung Galaxy 5 is the best handset I've ever had. Don't hesitate to root your phone as it is very easy to do (requires just one click) using Universal Androot (v1.6.1 tested). The pros are plenty while none the cons. I was hesitating to flash to the newer firmware on my stock i5503 because it was very stable and trouble free. Everything was working fine, wifi, gps, you name it. It was a mistake as I found out later, when installing one app, namely LauncherPro from the market, had brought my phone down, stuck at Android logo at startup and endless self restart at that screen. Reflashing with the latest european i5500 firmware, I5500XWJJ6, using unofficial flashing app (Odin) had fixed it. But the apps and data had all gone, contact, sms, setttings, etc. Had I already rooted my phone, I would already had backuped my phone using Titanium Backup (root only app), and saved me the trouble, as it can restore apps and data in one click flawlessly from the previously backuped data in the microSD card.

Another benefit rooting the phone is the ability to install Barnacle, a root only wifi tethering app that can make your galaxy 5 as a wifi hotspot (adhoc mode only, WEP 128). I can connect my five desktops and laptops to it simultaneously, sharing my unlimited and cheap 3g data plan (USD 0.55 per day, up to 512 Kbps HSDPA). I understand that froyo will have this feature, and it might come out next month, but if you need to know about tethering now, rooting the phone is the only way. Anyway, when froyo is released, restoring apps and data from titanium backup will save a lot of hassle.

Hope it helps you my fellow G5 users.
