sm.gurdeep, 03 Apr 2010There are hundreds of location based apps available at goog... moreThanks a tonne Gurdeep...
the thing is.. i had nokia n82 and have used voice guided navigation over it... and nokia maps do not need gprs to draw maps... u can store the maps in memory card.. hope u obviously know... so i was just concern for this feature in samsung spica... i am from jaipur.... this phone isnt available here.. going to delhi next week.. will surely get a spica.. was planning for nokia 5800.. but it have resistive screen.. which i think is a downfall in today's technology of touchscreenzzz..... so was concerned about voice guided navigation... any idea on that... and i am sure that google maps fetches data from gprs to draw maps.. and gps chip tells the location on that map.. as far as i know.. u cannot store google maps on memory card so that it even draws or rather shows the maps.. even if u r offline...and one more thing.. please tell that can we atleast get directions from our gps position to any destination .. i mean do our position moves in maps and tells us where to go without voice guided navigation...plz tell..
and once again thanks alot for helping so many folks out here..

Specifications for many GPS receivers indicate their accuracy will be within about 10 to 50 feet (3 to 15 meters), 95% of the time. This assumes the receiver has a clear view of the sky and has finished acquiring satellites. There is no question to use GPRS while there is already available the GPS module. The GPRS is helpful to find coordinates in some cases though, particularly when you don't get GPS fix. I use MyTracks app and the results are unbelievable. Didn't try VoiceNavigation from GMaps 4.0 yet, will give it a try ;)

Yes, you can replace default pantheon home with any other home launcher(s) available. The only thing you require is lots of patience and little more time. There are dozens of Mods available from samdroid.net and others. Hope this helps :)

From gsmarena's video on youtube about the eclair update for spica, it seems that spica's using the touchwiz interface...

would it be possible to disable touchwiz and just use the stock eclair UI?

                                      Hi all,

i was just wondering if i was to buy this phone new (from 02, Ireland) would it have the latest edition android 2.1 or would it have the original 1.5 version???
And if so, how does one go about downloading the latest versions???

                                      Thanks in advance :)

Anonymous, 02 Apr 2010I wonder, is it possible to upgrade to 2.1 or 2.0 designed... moreIt's not possible to be achieved by following any simple means, unfortunately. There are lots of lots constraints! Take an example of Video/Audio drivers. These drivers are specific to samsung and one need to know where and how to obtain those drivers and compile those with the generic 2.1 f/w. So things are not as straight-forward as they appear!

I tested most of the leaked v2.1 ROMs and learned that it is only Home launchers which are not snappier, else everything works almost smooth. And in that we can consider rooting our official f/w and replacing the default home with something more lighter and smoother e.g. GDE.

                                        Cheers!!!
