More Fluff than Stuff-
I bought my Galaxy 3 10 days back after much of indecisive moments between Nokia E-5 and this one. I thought let me have a touch screen experience, but much to my dismay the Galaxy turns out to be more fluff than stuff
The battery life is dismal, my 3.5 years old E 61i has better battery life post 20% more browsing that I do on Nokia E61i even today. For a working executive like me the android apps and the market etc is all too unnecessary, what I want is easy to use productive phone that hooks me up with internet quickly, runs longer despite long calls and easy to maneuver while I am doing 20 other things....Well Galaxy unfortunately does only 1 or 2 things out of what I want. I guess it's lessons learnt for me, my next phone will be "content" than only "cover"...Let me leave glitzy looking phones to geeks & show-offs

and about the ginger bread update
well the major update thing in ginger bread is of video calling.as neither your so loved optimus(or even g3) don't have a front camera.its the hel of no use.and if think of nfc(hope you know what it is) you don't have hardware.

Danveer, 09 Dec 2010guys i bought this phone but am really dissapointed...
1) ... more1.all the android phones have the conversation mode of message type so you can't blame this phone. well you can do one thing there are many apps which pops just the message arrived you can check out for them.
2.it supports the java. if you have to be sure go to getjar and find a application.
3.well froyo is to come by new year so wait for it.
4.well ring first den the screen to answer the call its because there are lot me background apps running so low on ram so it gets delayed.use task killer and keep a ram free den it won't happen.

don't spread false info.. i am using Optimus one from last 2 weeks. i never faced any problem. sound quality is very good. no call drop problem. I highly recommend to go for optimus one

i face the same problem with call drops every time i make the call in my old phone. it would be waste of money if it persists in galaxy 3 also.

To every one who is suffering from battery problem,
Download and instal advanced task killer application...
there are many applications that are running in your phone in background and drench your battery...
With this application you can close them and not only save battery but can also free a page amount of ram that these application acquire..herr is the difference that I felt
Before the software
battery time-6hr on heavy usage
Free memory-55 mb
now my battery lasts more than a day on heavy usage and even my ram gets free up to 135 mb...you will definitely feel the difference after you instal this app

Its not a good phone. Call connectivity is a big issue with this phone. Most fo the times calling is not possible or call get dropped after 1-2 min of conversation

guys i bought this phone but am really dissapointed...
1) there is no list view for messages and the conversation mode really sucks!!!1
2)there is no java and so i am not Able to play any java games.
3)there is no froyo available for it, i connected it to samsung kies a lot of times and tried to update it but it says "already updated" but its still running eclair
4) when i get a call, the music starts ringing but the display comes after 5 to 7 seconds and i just have to wait till i can accept or reject the call...
please help me out if some things are recoverable in it or even tell me if its a defective piece or having a problem which many out there do not have....
also please tell me if there i a good torrent client available for android..

the difference between optimus one and galaxy 3 is:
1)optimus one has HVGA-(gd clarity) display wer G3 has WVGA
2)O1 has better RAM-512MB compared to G3 256MB
3)anderoid version difference but upgradable
