I was really curious to find out the answer to the question, does anyone have this phone set up with a slingplayer mobile that plays the TV programs on slingbox? how does the odd 320x320 screen resolution affect the playback???

Hi there! I am a developer and a i780 owner. I tried many of the market games and only one out of 20 work! Try download some trial games and see if they work! They dont! Plus the games my company made even if they worked perfectly on the visual studio emulator, on samsung i780 it worked with many bugs (the screen was flipping very fast ON-OFF). I can prouve what I say very simply ! Anyone who has the phone can download any game that uses full screen (not window mode) and it will see they are not working ! Plus even if the game graphics work the new sensitive middle button is not working in some games! I'm waiting for other users who can verify what I say... It would have been a good phone but the weird screen and weird scroll button ruins everything... I'm sorry... I will sell my i780 because its not good at all for gaming and other graphical application (including graphical navigation software).

Hi, I'm watching out alot on the function of this phone. Has anyone actually tried using it's MS Office Mobile? I'm concern how the excel is working, are the fields easy to edit? Also, is there a adobe reader installed, if there is can it ready image files? I'd had problem with my previous pda, it doesnt read most of my image pdf. Thanks for helping out.

                    top 3 phones:
                    1. Nokia E90
                    2. HTC Tytn II
                    3. Samsung i780

Personally and based on the opinion of the mobile community, these are probably most coveted phones in the market.

All have the qwerty keyboard and the all-rounder features such as wi-fi, GPS, and PIM functionality.

In terms of build quality and handling (your choice: one handed or bimanual operation), Nokia E90 leads the pack with its chrome metal trims and dual-interface.

If Samsung decides to further its marketing strategies, the i780 just might... I repeat just might be the winner with its down-to-earth price. A flagship phone with the mid-entry price.

                    To give you a picture:
                    1. HTC Tytn II - snobbish (Php 40,000 ~ 1000 USD)
                    2. Nokia E90 - still high (Php 32,000 ~ 800 USD)
                    3. Samsung i780 - reasonable(Php 24,000 ~ 600 USD)

with most of the features you need at such an attractive price and the most compact size, you now have what I call a trilemma (dilemma, gets)...

I currently own an E90 and I can't help but wonder whether I should go for the eye-candy i780. I think most people would agree if I proclaim is as the sexiest qwerty handset around.

                    Happy shopping!

                      TO ALEX,

May i know exactly which 3rd party software do not work on i780? Are you sure of your statement? If i can prove something curious out of your statement, how would you clarify your words to make it right again my friend. :)

Hi, I am Stephen, regional marketing manager for Samsung.

i780 was launched as a top of the line Business phone. A great and complete device to carry along for work and pleasure. Sure we did add some entertainment onto it. That is why some of the media effects are working fairly good. For those who bought i780 for gaming (MAJORLY) would definately feel that something is missing. But think about the current market condition. What Samsung i780 can offer is something beyond our expectation. Including me.

I love it very much. It's have everything from touch screen to optical mouse plus QWERT keyboard(Not for big thumb). The phone look way better than photo in this website, very black glossy. The 2.0 mega camera is better than normal pda phone. The only downside for me is none but it's not perfect dough.

I bought the phone 3 days ago and had it fully charged before use. Beside its fast speed, it is much stable compared to my other PDA phone - D810. It has built in Chinese software, with hand writing capability; great and easy to use too. Video is fantastic. The GPS and maps are working find. I love the QWERTY keys; easy to do SMS and notes. Played with it for the past 2 days, and so far the battery is still more than 50% - better than D810. Initially had problem with calls received - seemed to delay before it connected. But the tech guy fixed it in less than 10 min. Apparently there was a program conflict. It is not a game machine, more of a business device. Best PDA phone I ever had. I would rate it as high as 8 out of 10.

I've gone to the Samsung Shop (in Singapore) to check out the phone and play with it. The phone seems excellent after my limited time with it. I'm currently using an one month old O2 Atom Life and thinking of trading it away for the i780. Do you all think that's wise? I'm a bit concerned about the trade off in screen size for the QWERTY keyboard though. Send your opinions to beachy_dude@hotmail.com Thanks.

I've tried to saved an MP3 in the phone memory with Chinese character, and I've been unable to do it. I think it's either Windows Mobile OS, or ActiveSync.

I used the Opera browser, and I was able to go to Yahoo China site without problem reading the webpage.

I don't know about other program though (i.e. Pocket word). I have the English version.

I also have to say that this phone is very stable. If something goes slower than usual. Press and hold the OK button to close all program. It really does close all the program. I was using a third party software to kill processes, but I've found out that Samsung really has some programs that really works well.

Also, if you use the navigator instead of the mouse, you can scroll through any opened windows. You can also use your finger on the screen through Opera, and Dataviewer, which can be downloaded for free.

And if you get TCPMP, videos go a lot smoother. I'm putting a lot of video collection in my 4gb card. I also got a 2gb card now that I use to plug in to my laptop or pc for faster direct transfer.

I don't know about Vista compatibility since I haven't upgraded to Vista yet. I build most of my pc, and I'm still not sure if it's time to upgrade yet because of compatibility issue. Plus, I'll have to redo all the work for my home network. So far, I think that XP should be still good for another 2-3 years at least. Then we will see what version of Pocket PC will get then.

So far, this is one of the best PDA phone that I've got. I was a bit concerned about the camera before, but coming from a 1.3 Megapixel to 2.0 is already an upgrade. So it ain't that bad. I could complain about it, but if I want some really good shot, I'll get a digital camera out with a 5.0 Megapixel at least.
