Resistive basically responds trough pressure, hence the use of a stylus (or whatever) is advised, though you can use your finger. The iPhone uses the capacitive touchscreen. Capacitive responds trough heat. So other than your fingers, it will not respond.
However as i said Omnia II uses the advanced R touchscreen. As per review with the JET (S8000) it is as responsive as the iPhone. BUT with added benefit that you can use whatever to poke your screen. so I guess, this will be much better. but then again, we have to wait for it to LAUNCH and be thoroughly tested by its users. ^_^

The price of this phone is more attractive now. It is $440 Euro, instead of $550 Euro that gsmarena.com website posted before. I hope there is a North American version of this Samsung I8000 omnia II

Looks like a nice smartphone. Was gonn aget the HTC Touch Diamond II but this looks better. LED Flash!
Does anyone know if the Omnia II has a feature similar to HTC Touch Flo?

•Internal storage is 8 GB (at this moment, Samsung is not making any 16GB model. However, that will depends on the market demand).

People are now more educated about PDA features on phones so they have plenty of choice currently available out there.

I had an Omnia that did not work, and was exchanged by Vodafone for BB Storm. I hated the stylus on the Omnia, but think the general design and specs are strong. I like the W/L option on this model. Question - does anyone know if a stylus will come with this model or if the icons are now large enough so as to be able to do away with it. What about the keyboard, same there, are the keys big enough to be practical. For me these are fundamental questions which would bring me back to Samsung. The ancient D900 was a superb phone. I still have one working without fault!

I wonder if there will be a huge price difference between this model and S8000. If it's small price difference, I will go for I8000 but if not, S8000 all the way.

I don't sad Samsung is weak, don't think I am crazy, coz I like this model too, but when Sharp will enter with smartphones in Europe, Samsung could be in trouble, believe me. Sharp right now need profit, and they will make really high-end phones for Europe, you will see that. They wants to sold 4 millions smartphones in Europe, visit that site I wrote 1, or 2 hours ago. Nec, and Panasonic want to make phones for Europe, Panasonic will enter with Android phones, YES, WITH ANDROID phones!:)Japan is Japan, they are imbateble. Sorry 4 my english.

1500mah and 1440mah doesnt make any big difference..
about 8gigs.. yeah, i hope they will make 16gigs.. and also 2gb to make it cheaper in price.

now samsung say it comes only with 8 gig models and the battery is not 1500Mah it is now 1440, the same as the omnia One.
and some other minor nerfs!

maybe if you are a kid yes, you love fancy stuffs..
what we need in a phone is a great OS, great UI, stable, and complete.
No, i am not talking about IPHONE! lol!
A true Phone user need:
-A camera NOT more than 8mp, Imagine sending files to lower tech phones! maybe they even cant open it!
-Great UI and OS, Android has a potential but it is too young.
-Desktop Experience in Browsing
-At least good looking
-3rp party APPS! now that is why OS is important.
We dont need a phone that can SWIM! waterproof wtf?
I know Sharp is good. but we are talking about good software here. Maybe they have one, but beating Symbian? WinMO? and Android?
