      AnonD-75643, 07 Mar 2013how to get back JB 4.1.1 in S3 MINI @ pnplama

      1) Make sure that you have the Samsung USB drivers on your PC. If you have Kies on it then you have. If not I can direct you to the link.
      2) Download the 4.1.1 firmware:
      https://hotfile.com/dl/185032960/5a8f619/I8190XXALL2_I8190OXXALL1_BTU.zip.html
Then unzip to a folder of your choice.
      3)Download Odin 3 v3.04:
      http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703998
4)Switch OFF your phone. Now go to Download Mode. Press and hold the Volume Down + Home buttons together, and then press the Power button until you see the construction Android robot and a triangle. Press Vol up to continue.
5)Make sure that Kies is NOT open. Open ODIN on your computer. Make sure that 'Auto reboot' and 'F Reset time' are ticked but NO others. Connect your phone to your computer while your phone is in Download Mode.
6)If your phone is connected successfully, one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port number and the box below will show 'Added!'.
7)On Odin, click on the PDA button and select the file you unzipped (the one that ends with .tar.MD5)
8)Click START and Odin will flash your phone (takes about 5 minutes).
When it has finished the phone will reboot and you will have 4.1.1 on your phone.
You do not have to do the following, but I do. If you do, you will clean the phone back to Factory condition but your apps, data, contacts etc. will have been wiped, but if your phone is backed up to Google it is not a problem.
      9) Remove the battery, reinsert, and start by holding Vol Up + Home, and then Power. Your phone will go into Recovery Mode. Using the Vol Up/Down button, select 'Wipe cache partition' and press Power button. Then do the same with 'Wipe data/Factory reset'.
      10) Lastly, select Reboot phone.

I checked the stats on my battery. Without Living wallpaper on, the figures were Screen 45%, Device Idle 21%, Cell Standby 18%, Android OS 13%, and Android Sys 3%
With Living wallpaper on, the figures were Screen 45%, Device Idle 21%, Cell Standby 18%, Android OS 13%, and Android Sys 3%
Using those figures, the Living wallpaper is drawing an extra 1% from the battery by being ON. Not a lot, but over 24 hrs that can add up.
Besides, what is the point of Living wallpaper? You only see it for a second or two when you unlock your screen to use the phone.

-mustang-, 07 Mar 2013using odin does it mean you rooted ur phone?@ mustang

No, you don't need to root your phone to use Odin. Odin is just a PC software program that can be used to install a different ROM on your phone.
I've used Odin ever since I had my Galaxy S (i9000); and I've flashed my S3 about 6 times now with different ROM's without any problems, and now my S3 Mini twice.
It's a bit daunting the first time you use it because you keep thinking "What if?", but it's a personal choice whether you go for it or not.

There is a lot you can do to improve the battery life on your phone. The biggest drain is the display; always turn the Brightness down to the lowest level you can tolerate.
The rule I use is 'Use it or lose it'. Turn off Living Wallpaper. Not using 3G? Turn it off. I use an app called '2G-3G On/Off' by Curvefish that takes me to the Mobile Network setting in one click. The same goes for wifi, turn it off if you are not using it. Download a decent Task Killer to kill any apps running in the background. I use 'Advanced Task Killer for Froyo' which I have found works well on this phone.
