Yeah nice for you man.Unfortunately i have no knowledge about rooting phones.I'm reading on this xda android developer site(which has awesome S3mini thread),about rooting,but so many things to look and watch for since u can fry(brick) your phone and so many different roms,custom roms,stock roms etc .So yeah im so not ready for rooting my phone back to 4.1.1 and i damn Miss the Ripple effect :((
The thing angrys me most is that i wrote 3 times to UK samsung customer support and each time they gave me silly and ridiculous answers,never admitting nor giving reason why they removed that feature...
And the heck with the 4.1.2 upgrade,i dont see any better performance,the phone runs the same smoothness,it has the same battery performance,absolutely 160MB of upgrade just to remove the coolest thing the phone had!

I've just flashed my phone back to 4.1.1
It's SO nice to see the Ripple Effect again!
It also seems to be smoother now, so perhaps 4.1.2 isn't a great update after all.

guys, this phone very good..my previous phone (Huawei Ascend P1) got broken & i bought this s3 mini..doesn't expect this phone good as Note,S3 or other high end phone..but i'm wrong! it good & work same as the other high end phone..nice sound,good screen,no lagging..it can run 3D game smoothly such as NFS HOT PURSUIT,NFS MOST WANTED,FIFA12,DEAD TRIGGER,PES12 & lots more..the bad is no app to sdcard..but it ok once u root it..:)the best is it is easy to handle with 1 hand...

Anyways, a bad move from samsung,now they have many unhappy customers(that ripple effect was the selling point for many people,including me,i could of just buy htc or xperia much cheaper with the same specs) :p
Downgrading features like this is very low hit for such a multi-million company

Funkyboj is right and you are wrong, the Ripple effect has been removed in 4.1.2
I flashed my phone with 4.1.2 yesterday and can confirm that. Also, there is are plenty of users complaining about it being removed all over the Net.
You are obviously still on 4.1.1

Ripple effect is still there in 4.1.2. you just have to go to settings scroll down to personal and under lock screen click on lock screen options and tick Ripple Effect. It has not gone it has just been turned off.

uniquely, why samsung didnt do that on note, s3, why just on s3 mini?
the ripple effect is the one i want from s3 mini... ( because i looked my friend using s3, it was awesome using ripple effect, different from other)
