      about battery issue:

back side of phone is part of metal or steel? if yes this is normal to drain battery a lot...remember N91 or I8510 with back of metal part and have same issue...

any I8910 owners can confirm metal parts on back side of phone?

Omnia 3 (non-Windows version) will hopefully have Bluetooth 3.0 and 32GB internal memory, as well as better audio and a FM Transmitter after all this talk. Hopefully it'll have Symbian Squared OS with 800x480 resolution (full backwardscompatible with Symbian 60), and besides that, this phone is perfect. But I won't get it, as I need a bit better screen resolution, and as of now only WinMo phones offer that, and it's well known that WinMo sucks!

Keep up Samsung, and I might actually buy your flagship phone this Xmas, if it will have everything Omnia HD had as well as the features above. That would be the first Samsung phone I'd buy, and I wouldn't be disappointed either, hopefully.

We'll see. However, if this doesn't happen, I'll get the Nseries flagship model instead.

Perhaps you have a faulty phone, and/or battery.

I would contact Samsung about this and see what they think. Or otherwise contact Orange because the phone should be very energy efficient due to the OLED screen, and power efficient CPU.

This is my experiance with batterys..The n95 was fairly good then dissappear quick yet sometimes it would last a lot longer,,i am using n96 and that can go quickly from 5 bars to empty but the past 2 days its held really well..When i got innov8 the battery was terrible but somone gave a trick to maximise it which i tried..so sometimes batterys act a bit odd yet never had this trouble in 10 years except for the last year..Lithium ion/polymer batterys have a chip in them to stop charging when full,,i alwys thought it was the fone..The only explanation why some say fones have good battery life and some dont is perhaps a faulty batch of cells now and again OR people are using fones less or mors than they think..

bluetooth is always off and the same goes for the wireless scanning. When i put the phone in standby i always check to close all the running applications obviously apart from the 3 main ones.

I have done the things regarding the battery charging as i am very picky when it comes to expensive stuff and will do everything properly when i first get it.

Anyway it could just be that my battery is rubbish...but in my personal experience the life of it sucks and there is no legitimate reason for it to do so as i have tried many things to rectify the problem, still i love the phone though.

Anyway that why most phones allow you to carry a spare battery should yours go flat. No way for the iPhone cant change battery . Dont get me wrong I am a Mac user and has been for more than 10 years. I only support Apple products but I know that the iPhone is good but it still does not have the technology to really compete with bigger boys like Nokia, Samsung and so on.

DLNA, 12 Jun 2009"Battery life is sooo bad, most of the time i wake up in th... moreIt is interesting to see the difference in opinions regarding battery life.

I had noticed on a couple of occassions that my battery seemed to drain rather quickly. However, the majority of the time the battery life is incredible!

Although obvious, remember that if you use many functions of the phone throughout the day, the battery will inevitably run out quickly. Also As someone mentioned earlier there are several things you should disable to help maintain battery. Also remember if you are using the phone outside then the sensor will make the screen brighter. This could also impact on the battery. And again as mentioned earlier it is imperative that you charge the battery for at least 8 hours before initial use. I would suggest running your battery to empty and then charging it for this amount of time with the handset turned off. Hopefully this will remedy your problem.

Personally i charge my phone every night anyway so battery life is not an issue. Having said that, by the end of the day i always seem to have full battery!

Bearing in mind how powerfull the handset actually is, i think the battery life is amazing!

Key, 12 Jun 2009I have to say that unbranding this phone is the way forward... moredon't hink so. Did you charge your battery for about 10 hours for the first time when you got the phone??
If not, then this is the reason why youir battery sucks:)
Read the user manual - for the very first time before using your phone you have to charge it for at least 8-10 hours but not more than 14 or something like this.
If yopu do this then your battery should have at least 2 days life with a normal/hard use.

the thing is that I have heard very different stories - one friend debranded and unlocked his HTC Tytn from Orange and when his camera gone faulty they replaced it with a new one, so warranty wasn't voided? But maybe they simply didn't notice that the phone was unlocked and debranded?:) lol
On other hand, from what I heard from other people who work in mobile phones' business etc., they say that the warranty would be voided...
                        Anyway, thanks for you comments.

Will see how it goes after I receive my Omnia HD, should arrive this morning:)

I hate branding by phone companies but if you unbrand your phone then it goes wrong then you have the worlds most expensive paperweight as your warranty is invalid and the manufacturer will not repair the phone, for the sake of a You Tube and Facebook widget it is not a risk I am willing to take

Btw, I find the touch screen capabilities of this phone in some ways better than the iPhone. The sensitivity is almost the same. I used to own the 2G and 3G versions btw. Another good thing about this phone is its haptic feedback. As regards applications, the preinstalled apps for this suffice my needs. Yes there are probably thousands of iPhone apps but most of them are either too expensive to be very useful or simply nonsense.

I have to say that unbranding this phone is the way forward. The touch is good but obviously nowhere near compared to that of the iphone...and the applications are very limited to this aswell.

It is a very good phone to have so far and flashing the firmware has made it even better as the Orange firmware sucked.

The battery on the other hand sucks. Battery life is sooo bad, most of the time i wake up in the morning to find my phone has switched off because the battery has died.
