Ive been lurking and browsing this site and this section regarding the Omnia HD for a while so i thought id post on this phone.
I got the omnia HD this afternoon from phones 4 u, i got the racoon 40 deal, which is 500mb anytime of internet usage, 1200 minutes, 500 texts and unlimited landline calls for £40 a month, plus the phone was free on a 24 month contract.
One question I want to ask other Omnia HD users is the memory of the phone. Ive checked my phone memory and it only says it has 44MB of free memory!! i thought the phone was 8GB!!
Has anyone else come across this problem regarding there phone memory??
Im going to take it back on Sunday as thats when im off work to get a new model, plus im having trouble accessing Youtube on this :o(
Other than these complaints, the phone is great!!

loulou, 21 May 2009really, what happens with opera mini, because i using in my... moreopera mini is not working properly.I have installed couple themes without problem.No i didn't try that gps soft.Going to have a look.

can u install amaze apps !! www.amaze.com apps free for gps with voice!! in java!! choose java apps for nokia n97. im so sad!! a you sure ?? and theme for nokia 5800 dont work ???

Received my long awaited omnia this afternoon. Whilst waiting about a month for its release, I looked at many other phones. The only thing I was dreading about the omnia was its size. I was pleasantly surprised to see it is not quite a brick. I am female with small features and can hold and use the phone with one hand. I will be off to compare it in the shops again tomorrow but so far I must admit, I love it
Pros
Excellent photos, slow mo, fast and video recording for a mobile phone.
Clarity of screen
Touch screen quite responsive. I like that you need a firm hand and double clicking to open apps. I like that it can be locked easily and immediately after receiving calls.
Easy to use with good help notes. I skimmed through the manual.
Best features is the wifi (free Internet if you in a wifi zone)and the dictionary that converts english to other languages and vice versa
I don't really need extra applications so not a problem so far.
Cons:
Bright sunshine dims the screen but no worse than my w850i
Does not come with many samples, eg games and videos.
Orange is not giving out the SD card
Sound quality is not fantastic but its better than many phones. (Loudish and slightly tinny)
In conclusion, it is not the best looker but it is an all singing all dancing phone which will be enough to make me keep it.
Some of you might just need to play around with the settings. You'll be amazed at the differences when settings are fit for purpose

Did anybody tried to hack the phone? It's a S60 5 edition, so if you try to hack it, it should start to install all the apps. Look for the "Installserver" for the 5800 XpressMusic and try to use it whith this phone. if possible, give us all a reply to tell if it worked.

SpeedFire, 21 May 2009James, did you try to install applications made for Nokia 5... morei have already addressed this issues in my previous posts check page 1 and 2, 5800 apps did not work, it said file not supported, opera mini installed but it was unusable, it did not respond to any user input.

mark, 21 May 2009i had a viewty before this and was thinking about a pixon b... moreI undrestand what you mean.I have bought iPhone 3g and didn't like it too much.I have said to myself-wait you will get used to this phone or new updates will be coming or or or....I have same feeling with this phone-updates needed from the very first day ???? naaaaah it's not worth to spend another 8 months to reallyse that this phone is not for me.As i said before,everything in my case depend on samsung phone call what is wrong.It's time of global downturn and apps. or updates will not be coming that fast(no enough money) IMO.
Or you still can wait on reviews by profesionals :-)

James, 21 May 2009Hello guys... Am definitely returning mine tomorrow, me and... moreJames, did you try to install applications made for Nokia 5800? OmniaHD is running the same OS as Nokia 5800 and N97 (i.e. Symbian 9.4), so all 3rd party applications should be compatible.
Maybe you have some problems with sertificates and signing of applications. Did you have any Symbian smartphones before? What is said in error message?

I'm reading your posts guys and think that something gone wronh with this phone... let's hope that these problems will be solved by Samsung, and I'm looking forward for new and fresh reviews by professionals about this phone, hope to read them soon on the net...

Hello guys... Am definitely returning mine tomorrow, me and my bro have looked everywhere on the net for Omnia hd apps, but we did not find any, as if the lack of 3rd party apps was not enough trouble already, when making calls the sound was somewhat awkward, it was like the person you are talking to was in a noisy environment. The stories about the crap sound quality during hd recording, is really true, it's is just plain rubbish, i'll post the hd video i recorded so u guys would hear for ur self, as for the hd video quality, its ok but nothing that would wow you, its exxact same thing as recording with the usual dvd quaity found in nokia phones, the only difference is the file format and resolution. You can't use the phone with one hand, its awkwardly long and the width is like that of the iphone. The screen is really sharp and bright, but where you would really hate the phone is if u were outdoors, under sunlight the screen is just plain black, you can hardly do anything, taking photos outdoors was a nightmare, you have to stand under a shade or cover in order to see the viewfinder.
Overall to be honest i did not enjoy the phone, I prefer my samsung innov and my n82 to this phone. You can't really enjoy doing work on this phone honestly. For me the phone was not worth it, the HD recording is just a gimmick, you would never use it, cuz its worse than standard recording. And the app problem isn't orange's fault, cuz my bro's 5800 from orange installs apps and themes. Now am hoping orange get the N97 quick so I can exchange my omnia for it. Thanks

I'm nearly ready to return that phone,will wait till the call from samsung.If you are not going to use it for browsing,every day taking pictures or videos.I will say choose something else.My previous phones HTC touch,iPhone 3g and now this one.I have tryed all different sizes of phones and this one is just too big for texting and making calls-everyday usage.Be serious, how many pictures/videos in a week you are taking ??? Do you want big screen ??? go for any phone with screen between 3.2" - 3.5"....Battery life is way worst than with iphone 3g.Iphone lasted a day,this one not even.if i will keep him(50%)second battery is must.This i'm writing to you without disapointment from applications...

mate, I don't have Omnia HD now, I hope to buy it later in 1-2months for about £300 from ebay:)
