Tanz, 13 Apr 2009Im realy at a loss to decide among Omnia HD and N97 which o... moreYou have to make up your own mind. I'm not sure why people look for N-Gaze in other phones. It's a nokia thing. If Samsung has it they will have a different name for it. If you really fancy a physical keyboard and looking for DBV-H TV and N-Gaze, you have no other option but to stick to Nokia only. Omnia HD is not bulky..it's more of a tablet phone than a regular phone, still you can hold it in your hand and use it. I would rather say N97 is bulky..its narrow but thick due to its physical keyboard. Finally it's all up to you. You can't have everything. In my opinion n97 and Omnia HD are not in the same category at all. thanks

Im realy at a loss to decide among Omnia HD and N97 which on I should buy. Everything of N97 was ok with me except...
    1. Only a 5MP camera which may will take a lot of time to process images like all othr nokia 5MP's.
    2. Only VGA video record.
    3. It's said by many that its resistive touch screen will be no different from 5800's which I didn't like at all.
    4. No 3D graphics accilarator and processor maybe is not much speedy.

    Probs with omnia HD:
    1. No physical QWERTY keyboard (I'd love one).
    2. Too bulky.
    3. No screen rotation in main menues.
    4. Unimpressive gallery.
    5. No DBV-H TV.
    6. Software limitations (everyone knows that nokia is best in this front).
    7. Can't play N-Gaze.
    8. Not even a duel LED flash like N97.
    9. The front side of the phone looks chinese phone like.

Anyone can tell me what should I do now?

Anonymous, 13 Apr 2009Looked at both Omnia HD and N97 prototype. OMNIA HD is slow... morewho told you that samsung omnia hd is slow?
this machine is using a ARM Cortex-A8 600 MHz processor; 3D Graphics HW Accelerator

      n97 has NO 3D accelerator.

oh well, that both phone is not yet in the market.

I bet the Omnia HD will come in an ugly box and cheap packaging like all the other Samsung phones.

Samsung seriously needs to spend a little more on packaging.

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2009Its release will be on June along with Iphone 2009, LG View... moreI'll take the N97 any day over the Samsung omnia or the lg viewty 2, its not just specs that count, its the overall functionality. Nokia N97 bridges the gap between functionality and services. Though both the omnia and viewty are nice offerings, they severely lack on services and services are the core of functionality.

For example, I don't want to be found in a situation where my friends and colleagues are enjoying Ngage, Ovi app store, widgets, Nokia maps, Nokia messaging, huge array of applications, regular updates and so on, on their N97 and am left out, wishing I had purchased the N97, but by then it will be too late and I hate to regret. So the N97 cuts it for me, its where i'll put my money on. Plus the physical slide out keyboard is a lovely addon, virtual keyboards don't just give you that good feeling inside. I can't trade off full functionality for a few gimmicky features which you can certainly do without. Just my 2 cents. Thanks

Looked at both Omnia HD and N97 prototype. OMNIA HD is slow. I hope the final retail firmware will be faster and responsive and at least 50% speedier as said. Otherwise bye-bye Omnia HD!!

Coz I Shall not fall for the hype but will wait until convinced with hands on.

Anyway I am not in to HD recording. I feel prospective buyers should not get over exited with talk going on. Lets compare the design/Hardware/applications/Performance etc with Nokia N97. Lets wait and see if Samsung can deliver as they say!! If they do the crown is theirs! Otherwise Nokia N97 is the winner!

when all said and done you will be getting the n97 lol.
Try avoiding getting shot at by pulling out this huge samsung i8910 (bigger than iphone)out of your pocket trying to impress someone. when the n97 has all the nice features and is about the same size as Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

Font size of text - I have been shown the MS Word function on the Omnia and the font size can be raised to 14+. Can the text size in messaging also be raised to this level? this is critical as I don'twant to have to put on reading glasses everytime to read a text message.
