i love this phone and dnt care wat anyone sayes ever since i got this phone.i have been nun but happy. this phone has been dropped in the TOILET 2 times and been completly covered in mt dew and still works perfect this phone.is a survior and i would recomend this phone to anyone all my friends love my phone also

I love my Captivate. The only two negative features I can say that really bother me is that the vibrate is so faint even on the strongest setting is that you can't tell it is vibrating and that it does not have voice dial. In this day and age of being required to use hands free when driving you are unable to dial the phone by voice. Please don't suggest Google voice search as that doesn't work corrrectly at all.

When the recent update was sent, I tried to download it and the program indicated that the battery needed to be full. After that was complete, the update indicated that the battery was not set correctly. After two tries, the update proceeded, but was going way too long. Then during the update to the phone, it 'locked' and did not complete the task. The phone was very HOT and I had to disconnect. When trying to 'restore' the phone, it did not come on at all. It is 'destroyed' and does not have screen recognition. If I had not done the 'update' I would still have the phone. I am not happy at this time and had to order another phone until my 'renewal' time. Please let me know if I can 'test' my phone before I send it back. I want to know if the battery caused the problem or the 'update' program.

My 30 day trial is up tomorrow. I have spent the last 2 days looking again at all the latest and greatest options from all the different carriers. As hard as I try - I cannot find another phone that that hits that sweet spot of form and function. I give up... I'm keeping my Captivate!

- It's thin and fits perfectly in the pocket despite the relatively huge beautiful screen
- All the standard apps (messaging, email, camera, etc) are great and useful and fun
- The build quality of the phone is excellent, not "cheap" even though it's so light
- Integration with gmail, a huge plus
- I can drag and drop music to it!
- Swype! Holy cow.. How can anyone use anything else? It's like magic

This is one 'Incredible phone' made by Samsung so far, Samsung Captivate i897is 'made in korea' which comes with a superb built quality with metal back panel,feather touch home buttons and made for US standards, while other Indian version of Galaxies are made in china which has plastic back panels like galasy s2,ace,note etc,.... so you know if it is Chinese made,
Go ahead and gift this phone if you are thinking gifting somebody and you wont regret and it will never let you down by any means,this will be the best gift you can give.
The battery backup is excellent but it all depends on the usage,reduce the brightness to 40 to 50% to get a longer backup
