I myself managed to get 9 hours of battery life out of it, which is actually pretty good for a smartphone, but to do so, I basically had to make the phone ugly as hell. I set the background to pure black (because the super AMOLED screen supposedly saves more energy with that), turned off bluetooth/wifi/etc, turned off all animation, and set brightness to lowest possible.

Isn't the Super AMOLED screen, Android, and the Hummingbird processor all supposed to be great at saving energy? The iPhone 4 (which has equal specs) smashes this phone in battery life.

Meh, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if not for two things: (1) The fact that there is no toggle to switch from using 3G to 2G, which would save a huge amount of battery, and (2) the fact that this phone takes like 3-4 hours to fully recharge.

      reserved for Samsung's Galaxy S
devices, which are hit pretty hard
      with bad battery consumption. The
      test reaffirms Motorola as the
undisputed leader in Android. It has
      clearly mastered the OS
infrastructure and has been able to
      create phones with good

The battery is not that bad. I was using one at partial life and testing the Hd recording, trying to get wifi, and surfing the web for the main part of the couple hour period and didn't get low battery til the end. When you use so many features it will be drained. Yes try to get a li poly one deffinately. Also just have a back up and u will have more than enough juice. my only complaint is one speaker that is not to loud

Bobcat, 02 Sep 2010Can some1 tell how to put music from computer to my Captiva... more first off creat a file on your desktop and label it android or mp3 what have you, then in itunes highlight the mp3s you want hold down and drag your file into folder that way you will have it seperated from the evil ituens. you should note android wont support aac so convert to highest mp3 beofre dragging! afterwards just use a media card reader and your sdhc card to drag files into it. i doubt the microsdhc is not hot swappable!

Bobcat, 02 Sep 2010Can some1 tell how to put music from computer to my Captiva... moreYou have to ensure that you are choosing the right place to store it. The captivate internal memory is viewed as an SD card by itself, and then if you have an external memory card, it is viewed as a separate place to store. You have to hook it up to your computer and the first removable drive that comes up is the internal memory. Try choosing the external memory. That is the only frustrating thing about this device is that both the phone and the actual memory card seem the same when browsing in the phone.

Paul, 02 Sep 2010Can any user let me know as to the exact talk time achieved... moreI own one of this phones and I'm amazed of how long the battery lasts compared to my previous phone i68 type. Despite WiFi, blue tooth and talking, the battery goes on for a wile.

I have used my phone as music player through a trip and talking and battery went for about 8 hrs. Recharging does take several hours. I usually do overnight recharge.

Bobcat, 02 Sep 2010Can some1 tell how to put music from computer to my Captiva... moreQuite simple, first you would have to install the software and drives from your phone to your PC. This is the only way for you to be able to open your music player and download music. If you are running Windows XP, it should detect the phone right away. There are 4 sets of drivers that need to be installed. You can download'em from www.samsung.com AT&T does not ship the phone with software or at least mine came without it.

Once installed, just go about your normal way as any other USB device. Open the phone icon, then scroll and find the player and transfer your files. I have additional micro sd where I store music on my phone.

Can any user let me know as to the exact talk time achieved and a throw some light on the battery usage status and the charging time?

I an using a Samsung Vibrant (T-Mobile) the battery is pathetic. I barely manage 24 hours with 6 hours of tak-time and no internet usage at all. Plus it takes 4 -5 hours to get fully charged.
