ghepeath@gmail.com, 29 Aug 2010Any one knows how the do the lag fix for the captivate, and... moreSorry, I didn't realize GSMArena did that kind of thing to links.

To find SuperRooterExtreme, just search for that on Google, and it'll be the first link. Or you can do what DroidforEver said too.

The case of this looks a little more sturdy than i9000 Galaxy S, but has no radio. I think the only let down of the European version, which I believe is the standard samsung version is the case.

This phone is absolutely great. After installing the lag fix, I get 2200+ in quadrant benchmark, no more interface lag or slowdowns when using the music player.

ghepeath@gmail.com, 28 Aug 2010I'm looking foward to get this phone in the next few weeks,... moreThere are programs out there that does all of the important 'enhancement/fixes' for you in a simple packages. My person favorite is called SuperRooterExtreme and it can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=751934

Surf the that forum a bit. They have a lot of great programs for the Captivate, including programs to unlock it, update the firmware, and so on. At the very least, the forum can help you install the lag fix.

Be sure to follow the instructions closely and DO NOT seek tutorials from random websites on the Internet. Many Android fixes (or, at least, on the Captivate) requires your phone to be in a certain state and the websites don't always mention this info. I actually almost bricked my Captivate because I did that before finding the link I gave to you.

But again, the above package makes everything simple, but as always, be careful.

I've owned and used the Captivate for a few days now. It's a pretty good phone. Samsung, as usual, has made this phone with *amazing* specs; the super AMOLED screen is, of course, beautiful.

However, the modified OS sucks. I'm not a big fan of Android (I prefer Apple's iOS) to begin with, but all those additional AT&T junk apps/poor filesystem management really bogs the phone down. You notice a lot of lag.

The only way to get this phone to perform as it truly is capable of is to remove the AT&T apps and install the lag fix. After I did both of this, my performance shot up very nicely. The phone now rarely lags at all and I can actually go 20+ hours of light usage on this phone before the battery dies. Beautiful.

Simply put, Samsung makes awesome phones, and the Captivate is proof positive of this.

the phone is really nice in features and got a fast processor.. in my iphone i cannot download a movie all together only i can watch it while its downloading in samsun captivate you can download all the scene in 1 time and what it continuesly w/o hanging the only thing I dont like with the samsung captivate is that power connection its too slim and can easily disconnected the iphone so far you can watch what you dowload in any t.v like Youtube or you own video copy but in samsung captivate it does not do this kind of thing..

Most Samsung phones have a cheap metal coating on them that peels off after a while. Can anyone say if this phone has that cheap metal coating anywhere on it?
