Most things about this phone: Fantastic
GPS: Craptastic. Workarounds don't work.

If you have this phone- pls. call your carrier and contact Samsung and register that you are having a problem. This may expedite the fix.

I had some of the same problems at first...GPS sucks...Battery life is weak... But their is a fix for the GPS if you look it up online and the battery you could try Task Killer but we must keep in mind that this phone is 4 inches and Super Amoled. Once it gets Froyo everything will be better guys. I love my phone, at least the battery last longer than the iPhone.

After downloading ATK (Advanced Task Killer) I really noticed an improvement in performance. However, even after swapping it out for a new unit I still didn't see an improvement in the received signal levels, especially on 1900 MHz.

I'm not basing this on the "number of bars" showing on the display. If you go into Service Mode, you can get an actual RSSI measurement in dBm. Let's face it, folks, 0 dBm is 0 dBm. No software patch is going to fix this. The radios in the entire production run of the Captivate are bad by design.

Either wait for the flaw to be fixed or move to a place that's within half a mile of an AT&T cell tower.

I was forced to return mine. I still want an Android phone, though, so I'll probably wind up on Sprint or (shudder) Verizon. T-Mo is outta the question.

If you have excellent ATT coverage in your area this is the best Galaxy phone to get. When Verizon releases thier version, it could be faster, But, playing with the Droid X in a franchise store, it was obviously slower than ATT. ATT really did deliver on their upgrades in NYC. The call quality is slightly better, but I still think Verizon's call quality is better than ATTs.

I've been used iphone 3G, 3GS, and wanna try Android to see how good of it, but so disappointed...Just returned this Craptivate after using for 3 weeks. Nice designs, good looking, best feature of swype pad and file storage from both internal and external SD cards. You can drop and drag direct from PC or download direct from email and store into Micro-SD.
                              BUT:

Many bugs caused foreclose like crazy. Freeze up on me many times.
Chat applications from Android market didn't work very well for this Craptivate.
Most of the mail(yahoo, aim, hotmail..) dont sync via Wi-Fi.
Syncing over 3G, you must stand at a spot that has a good signal otherwise, it will take forever for u to retrive your email or even freeze the phone.
The battery life is a cock suckker worser than iphone 3GS.
The active button was placed on the right of the phone, whenever you hit it, you will hit the volume control on the left.
I returned it with 15% restocking fee.
You will be regreted to buy it. I am going back to iOS. Apple tastes a lot better than this piece of KimChi.

Has anyone else noticed how badly the WiFi range SUCKS on this thing? ...or is it just my unit? This thing has HALF the WiFi range of my girlfriend's iPhone 3Gs. I can even be in the same room with the WAP and notice weaker signals.

It also doesn't seem to play very well on the cellular network, either. Signals are consistently weak. 0 bars @home half the time! The other half of the time, signals are weak. As a result, the 3G CHOWS my battery.

Best sound quality?? HA!! My Nokia 6267 has this thing beat hands-down. Just about every Blackberry I've encountered sounds way better than this phone, as well.

The above, along with having the pleasure of my apps locking up and hanging, browser crashing and other flakiness has me wondering just HOW people can love this phone.

Did I just get a bad one??

                                  Tell me your stories.
