Who has a good idea of rooting? I found 2 ways of rooting my phone either "Root XXJVO Gingerbread ROM" or "Root XWJVH Gingerbread ROM". The thing is I don't know which one to choose? My "Baseband version" is "I9000XXJVO" and my "Build number" is "GINGERBREAD.XWJVH". Since I have both "XXJVO" and "XWJVH" I don't know which guide to follow if someone could kindly help me out please.

Once you have created the notifications folder (as described in my previous post) simply put your custom tones into that folder. Then, open your messaging app, press menu > settings and scroll down the screen and tap select ringtone. Your custom ringtone should now be on the list of available tones.

        All the best.

            ksk, 19 Oct 2011will galaxy s i9000 get updated to android 4.0?
            @ ksk

The following is an extract from Techradar.

" Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update

Google has confirmed it is working on an Android 4.0 update for the Samsung Nexus S and other Android devices.

Director of Android operating system User Experience Matias Duarte told Engadget that Google is. "Currently in the process for releasing Ice Cream Sandwich for Nexus S. Theoretically it should work for any 2.3 device."

Motorola confirmed to TechRadar that the Motorola Razr will launch in the UK with Android 2.3, but that there will be an update to 4.0in 2012. "

So, it would seem that any phone that is capable of running on Gingerbread should technically be able to run Ice cream Sandwich.

              @ anumel

As far as I'm aware the default message tone's volume will be the same for any custom tones you add, you just need to make sure that the Notification volume is set to maximum. Goto settings > sounds > volume and set notification volume to maximum.

To add your own custom tones, open My files in applications, press the menu button then tap Create folder. Name your new folder Notifications and put your custom tones into this new folder. Now, you can select your custom tones from within the messaging settings.

AnonD-26666, 17 Oct 2011After a long search on android phones, i came on conclusion... morethere is no problem when making calls, as there is a proximity senser that shuts the screen off when your ear is next to the earpiece. No idea about calls in traffiic, or in sunlight as I use my phone at home. The sgs AMOLED screen is supposed to be one of the best, if not still the top of the range, and mentioned often how bright it can be, and easy to see in sunlight. And battery charges in about 2•5 hrs, and lasts a day and a half with lots of Facebook and you tube use, and 3-4 days with moderate use. (I switch my phone off at night).

After a long search on android phones, i came on conclusion on Nexus S or Galaxy S in my budget in Rs.20,000/-. offcourse s2 is great but not comfortable for my pocket.

I was already using Xperia X10i v.2.3, but was not at all comfortable wid that phone. i would like to know, weather all that things are solved in this phone as mentioned:

*in x10, sms was not getting delivered wen using net or downloading. after closing browser, all the sms gets in the inbox together. (does this phone hav same problem, or all android)

*in x10, earpiece quality was very low. one should have good grip between your ears and your phone to listen correctly. and in traffic it becomes impossible to talk.(according to me, Blackberry's voice quality might be the best in any phone of the world)

*In x10, while attemping a call, as our ears or face touch the phone, its touch screen starts responding and works on any options on call menu.. dat is in between call, either it goes on HOLD or SPEAKERPHONE, Or open CONTACTS and dial number. (its wen you hav good grip at your ear while talking)
I used c7, and apple 3gs. but dis thing never happened.

*In x10, display was not visible properly in sunlight.

*in x10, most important, dre was very poor battery back-up. after full charge, i used to chat, browsing, and call, and needs to charge in 5-6 hours. even i was using juice defender.

So, guys, please help me, weather i can overcome with this solutions in dis NEXUS S or Galaxy S? Even i am Bit confused between Nexus S & Galaxy S. Pls guide me. Or even guide if any other android is better.

                                  Thanks a lot in advance,..
