            @Freefaller.

            I've flashed my phone with JVR and have noticed something interesting. The PDA and Modem (aka Phone) are indeed showing as JVR but the CSC is showing up as JVQ.
            So, although the phone is now a lot quicker and the default browser is working properly again it's still not quite there as a full proper release.
            For anyone who is interested, the CSC file holds data for the networks specific to your region as well as applications and anything else that are region/language specific. So my CSC would have the region code XEU which means it is unbranded/unlocked and is compatible for most European countries. In that respect then it doesn't matter that the CSC is still JVQ as the last official release of Gingerbread was JVQ, so all the information in the CSC is still relevant.

            Cheers.

            Ray

              If i rephrase my question, it would be like this:

              Some apps installed but not showing in my apps list....

                  Just come across this Wikipedia article.

                  Have a look at the second phone listed in the chart. Laugh? I almost wet myself! Obviously, someone has changed something just for fun.

Actually at the top of the page(i.e updated) about how desire users weren't going to get gingerbread. Some are saying it's better, some worse, likes lags on games they had etc., even how do they get back to froyo. Just the usual. (read it in user reviews here).

                          I find it silly that they put the SGS at number 8 in the top ten Android phone chart and the HTC Desire at number 7. The reason they gave for the SGS at number 8 was a lack of updates! They really haven't got a clue. I'm not even sure if any Desires have had their first Gingerbread update yet, but the SGS has had a few already. The SGS will get Ice cream Sandwich. No idea if the Desire will.

                            [deleted post]Yeah, and i noticed how they didn't give the sgs much credit even with the GB update. Whats funny is the desire looks like it can barely do the GB update, due to the UI htc sense, and yet that beats the sgs in their reviews. As you may have read there, the desire update to GB wasn't going to happen, but now they ARE offering the upgrade, then there is a disclaimer that desire users are able to upgrade at their own risk. (Yeah battery life sold the sgs to me as well as the specs etc)

Personally i would read more than that site. For instance they rate the iphone4 above sgs, but gsm arenas comparison suggests the sgs out performs the iph4. (I notice the top 20 is also based on value for money in some cases).

                                      Even i had the same problem...
                                      I just took back up of my files (mainly contacts, sms, pictures etc.) and reset factory setting using "Factory Data Reset". Then i updated my phone immediately using Samsung Kies. Now i'm using Ginger Bread 2.3.3.
                                      Its works great..

                                      note: use the latest version of Samsung Kies
