alok, 13 Aug 2011i am not able to upgrade my galaxy i9000 from eclair to fro... moreHi alok!
Even i had the same problem...
I just took back up of my files (mainly contacts, sms, pictures etc.) and reset factory setting using "Factory Data Reset". Then i updated my phone immediately using Samsung Kies. Now i'm using Ginger Bread 2.3.3.
Its works great..
note: use the latest version of Samsung Kies

Hello Mike.
Usually, poor performance can be solved by a firmware update. I'm guessing you're handset is running on an older version of Android, possibly 2.2 froyo or even 2.1 eclair.
It depends on what country you're in and whether you phone is locked to a particular network for availability of a firmware update. I know some customers in the USA are having a hard time getting their phones updated to 2.2 froyo. If that is the case for you then you should consider flashing your phone using Odin and the latest firmware for your region available from samfirmware.com.

Guys i need Samsung IM and Samsung Email app for this phone.
I had these 2 apps when my phone was on froyo. Now after i upgraded to GB, m not getting it. Can anyone tell me how to get those apps. I m from India.

Hey guyz,
I have Have just switched my phone to a SGS I9000 a week back and one of my friend has the I9003 i have noticed that the ram 0n the I9003 is more than that of the I9000, i am very happy with the phone and the functionalities but very Unhappy with the kind of performance it is delivering, it is slow in terms of usage.... do u have any suggestions on this pls enlighten me with the same.
i have read the blogs on the page and i wld be very glad and wld appreciate if anyone wld suggest me something on this or how improve the performance of the handset.

I use an app called Wifi File explorer where you can access everything on your phone on your PC without plugging in the cable.
Works GREAT!!!!!!!!!

No offence mate, but that article is dated 16 ... morenone taken. Looks like some are having issues, others not. I guess it's all about connection issues. Btw this free gingerbread keyboard from market is pretty good.
(I also noticed at tr that the HTC desire update to GB comes with a disclaimer saying they aren't responsible if it goes wrong).

The new version of Kies has rolled out since then and is STILL - how can I put this nicely? - Nope, can't think of anything nice!

Thanks for the update. I'm very interested in trying out JVR now mainly for the battery performance and Touchwiz 3.

I've been playing with the TouchWiz 3 interface which is included in XXJVR.
Early days yet, but I have found two interesting things so far.
1) Don't like the four icons at the bottom of your screen? Wish you could change them to ones you prefer? Now you can. Touch Applications, then the left soft button, and then Edit. Now you can drag a shortcut onto one of the first three icons on the bottom bar to change it. Then choose Save. You can't change the Applications icon though (obviously).
2) Accounts and Sync. If you click on Add Accountyou now have Facebook, Twitter, and My Space options. I haven't bothered with them yet, but I guess you can integrate them into one account if you wish.

Update on I9000XXJVR firmware.
I unplugged my charger at 6am yesterday and the battery widget I use (which has always proved pretty accurate) showed the battery at 98%. I used the phone as normal and at 7am this morning the battery level was at 89%, which is surprisingly good.
I would point out though that this was achieved by the following:
1)3G OFF
2)WiFi OFF
3)Background Data OFF
4)Live Wallpaper OFF.
My motto is - If you don't use it, lose it.
I NEVER use 3G because I've never found a use for it, and anyway the 3G signal is awful where I live (Essex). I only use WiFi at home, and then not very much. Live wallpaper? What's the point, you only see it for a few seconds when you unlock the phone. Background data - who wants their phone sending out data behind their back? I only turn it on when I want to use WiFI, and then turn it off again.
