so JV9 will be for the Philippines & other South East Asian region. I think I'll stick w/ JVO firmware. my phone works fine anyway & haven' encounter any problems yet.

AnonD-2275, 04 Jun 2011what's the CSC of the Gingerbread firmware available in the... moreHi BlueOrange...I hope you still remember me (I was the nube who you helped to do a manual flash for the first time).

I updated my SGS via Odin (just this morning) and also came from JVO. The files for DXJV9 (from both samfirmware.com and xda-developers) indicated JV9 for all three components - PDA (DXJV9), Modem (DXJV9) and CSC (OLBJV9).

Just a heads up - I initially used the single file from samfirmware to update the phone but had problems. The Phone was stuck on the GT-i9000 screen and won't boot up to the S logo. Luckily, the bootloader was already loaded (or maybe it was not yet touched) and so I was still able to go back to download mode and re-flashed JVO. After this, I used the three files instead from xda-developers and followed their specific (special) instructions in flashing DXJV9 - the three files are to be used with 513.pit (along with repartition). Once this is done, some errors will still pop-up during the installation stage but after booting up and then reflashing with just the CSC file, everything will be okay.

For the last 10 hours, no problem has popped up in my phone and everything is working quite nicely. You can read more on the specifics of the flashing from their site but I think you are probably updated already with the subject since you're the master! :)

I've been tempted many times to flash my SGS via ODIN, but I dont have enough courage to do it.

maybe you could help me out with this matter...

anyways, have you tried flashing your SGS with custom ROM?

I'm also from the Philippines but I don't upgrade using Kies. I use Odin to upgrade my firmware. right now I'm on 2.3.3 JVO (Europian firmwae)
