Well even i heard it that they have shortage of super AMOLED thats why they r unable to produce sgs now. But that problem can be resolved soon. And as you said by jan end. I wil recommend you to buy sgs instead of nexus s. Rest is your wish.

Is it true that this phone discontinue?
I ask several vendor in my country (Indonesia) and they all says the same thing. But when i check at the internet it's still Available. 6 month is to short to discontinue a great phone!!!

dont bother buying the galaxy if you wish to have continous problems, this is my 3rd one, and again i have had to send it off to repair after exchanging it twice. its screen goes black when i move to a different application, and when i swithch the phone on it flashes the samsung sign, then turns itself off and repeadtely does it over and over again until you remove the battery, its crap dont waste your time on it, it was rushed by samsung to compete with apple, i have never been so disappointed in my whole life.

You can update the other countries firmware but you have to hack yr kies(Change Product code) but it's more complex and not always safe.
So as we are not tech savye i suggest just wait for the official update one..
I don't know about yr product code but in UK for XEU they already got 2.2.1. which is far stable and fast than 2.2

Arun, 05 Jan 2011Or the proper reply shud have been, 'Samsung has used up al... moreI'm still not sure which phone to buy, Galaxy S and Nexus S are two of the best phone's at the moment, Nexus S will give me updates of android as soon as they are out, and Galaxy S gives me HD video recording, Nexus S gives ultra cool looks, and Galaxy S gives me bluetooth v.3.0. Both the phones go neck to neck.

Arun, 05 Jan 2011you really think they will get back SGS again after 4-5 mon... moreI wasnt very satisfied either so I ended up calling the sales department of Samsung, I dont know how much of this is true, but they said that the production department is having a shortage of Super Amoled screens and hence they had to discontinuesupply and that the Galaxy S should be back by January end. :D

Is this update country specific? Cant I update this phone with the version released in other countries other than UK?
As the hardware is same, the update released in any country should work fine on this phone right?!

Sadly the end of this phone is in sight. Its proven that honeycomb will only run on dual core processors, which adds up to the android fragmentation, and cuts down the phone's usable life drammatically. Bye to a great phone

I have been tested this couple of time and found the FB apps damn annoying. Once I had upgraded the OS to 2.2, it starting to cause my SGS laggy or hang. Once I had uninstall it, everything just back to normal and my SGS is smooth & stable. I tried to install it again, I got the same problem. I had not log-out and not use it at all, then it got problem. The only inconvenient was that I can't upload the photo directly to my FB account. Hopefully FB will update the apps by fixing the bugs to suit Froyo.
