First you need to install odin3 v1.3 on your pc
then install jm9 here

make sure you read instructions properly and choose the correct csc file for your country do this by Opening dialer and type: *2767*4387264636#
The second line will read: PCode:GT-I9000HK?xxx.
Make the last three characters match with the CSC product code, Let phone reboot and install this rom.

Then root your phone here

look for v5 slim for I9000XWJM9 and the theme under it and download them at the bottom of the first post follow instructions and install this.

Reboot phone again then finally install a lag fix of your choice. I think that it everything

I'm from India and used reg-hack to get my hands onto jpm. Aside from that, jpm is also available on xda and samfirmware now. Thanks.

I too just start to think that first lets wait for reaction from people all around the world who have updated or are updating to froyo 2.2. Until then 2.1 with mods etc. should be just fine. May you kindly provide me with the direct download links please? along with the brief how-tos? Thanks.

Hi.
Hope this helps some.

Install Kies, then turn off Kies from your computer task bar (right click select exit), then turn on your phone, in settings go to, about phone, USB, and choose Kies, go back to your home screen and plug your phone into PC. Wait till you see see Windows confirm your software is installed. when its done,unplug your phone and start Kies, wait till Kies has fully loaded and plug in your phone. This should give you your best shot at connecting, you should best have a card in your phone, FOLLOW THIS EXACTLY, you probably know more about tech than I do but mine wasn'nt working and this sorted it out as Kies and Windows were competing and Kies coudn't get past the Os. Some people have had to unmount their memory card format it etc. its maybe a prerequisite, but then afterwards this is still relevant.

I haven't even bothered with the official froyo update i will wait for a while for some others to appear because like 2.1 the first ones we're bad but the newer releases were actually good the same will be for froyo, it wont just be one update.

Continuing from my last post, here are few issues those I personally experience with the "OFFICIAL" 2.2 (jpm) update :

-- lag lag lag !!! la la la la la !!! lag lag lag !!! where's mr. banana come dance \:d/ :>P Too much of lag. Unfortunately that scary rfs is still seems to be there I guess. Samsung, for God sake bury that beloved rfs of yours into deep grounds of earth and get your logics straight with the proven ext2 or ext4. Nobody wants to be test-lab rat after spending too much $s for an sgs unit !

-- This build is not stable. I tried to record HD for 17 seconds before I hit stop. And then guess what? I was presented with an lovely error :-| "The video recording failed!" ouch!! I opened up the gallery and was happy to it was still there but with only 14 secs. What happenend with the remaining 3 secs.? don't know...

-- Talking about GPS fix, I never tried GPS before on 2.1. With my first experience with the GPS fix, I went up to the roof top and started waiting to get the GPS fix. It took about 20 minutes for finding for the signal before I finally gave up. Then I downloaded GPS Test from the market and resumed waiting for the fix. It took about 15 minutes when I finally got the fix with SNR value > 40. The coordinates were almost accurate - nothing serious to worry about (1-2 meters accuracy I would say, yep!). But the problem doesn't end here. I came down to my room, closed the app and reopened it, and it was now in infinite loop, no re-fix!

-- The gallery is too slow (thanks to rfs again). There are only 4 pics and one video (yes that half one :>P ). I hit gallery to open it and it sits thinking whether to show thumbnails or wait for me to change my mood to close it and open something. WTF ??? How come this thing lags this much after the update ????

Samsung read this!


Will keep posting on more as I go along test it more. Otherwise I'm planning to revert back to jg4. Too bad experience with this "official" update, the much awaited and all that #:-S.

Just do not want to defend 2.2 by saying this release is awesome and I'm happy with it ( I earlier though I was :( ). The truth is I'm NOT HAPPY WITH THIS RELEASE OF 2.2. (jpm)

Samsung If you are reading this, Kindly pull this update of yours off from every source where it's been published lately. I want gsmarena as well to bring this word into samsung's attention by making a separate post regarding issues with the official 2.2 build, if possible. There are really serious issues with this ROM. I will try to keep posting what I find wrong this ROM. I request people as well who also has updated to 2.2 to cross-check if they have the same issues with the official 2.2. Samsung kindly do read and give us the stable & lag-free update. Keeping this post short, will post issues in subsequent posts. Also, my english is not too good, so people kindly bear with me. Thanks.

galaxy S works well with KIES... if you have already installed KIES in your computer, there are two ways to used it:
1. open KIES in your computer,reset your galaxy S then connect it with USB
2. don't open yet the KIES apps just connect your phone in USB if the computer read your USB then open the KIES apps.
and your ready to read your files inside your Galaxy S phone.

kamboj, 17 Oct 2010after using 2G internet on my galaxy for one and half hour.... moreYes I posted one a few pages back but most people laughed about it, don't even look at the cheap ones on eBay listed below. I charged mine to full then reset battery stats I've been using it all day yesterday on the internet and other things heavy usage its still on %41 played till 2am this morning and 1 hour today. Plus i haven't got the best out of the battery yet a few more discharges and full recharges and i reckon easily two days heavy usage.

after using 2G internet on my galaxy for one and half hour....the battery went to 41 % from 82 %.....battery life is poor....is there any battery with higher battery life i.e. having configuration more than 1500 mAh available in the market for galaxy s...?????
