After one month use of the Galaxy S. I have this to say:

    Battery issue:

Battery drains off fast because of auto download of background data which uses internet for which you have to pay for it unless your internet package is unlimited. Some of you suggest the use of task killer which however renders the Galaxy S unstable (hangs or lags often) and at times cut off the phone line while the task killer is doing the job. The best way is uninstall the task killer and turn off the auto download of background data and turn it on only when necessary. For those who do not know how to turn it off, this is the way:

Go to settings> account and sync > check off the background and data checkbox and also disable auto sync.

Next go to settings > wireless and network > mobile networks and check off Data roaming.

The information about power consumption is just a rough indication about the sources though.

You can watch videos for some 6 hours and I manage to navigate on the battery for 3,5 hours in my car!!
Al with the standard settings out of the box.
I think that's a very good achievement with such a big and bright screen!

      And again:
Don't forget the battery first gets its full capacity after 5 ~ 6 full charges.

what's made this great is that it's running on android.. i can play around creating some apps on it.. it's 1GHz processor, and ample storage i dont even need an xternal card.. only bad thing is that it doesn't have a flash..

Hey Guys. I am iPhone user and thinking of switching to Android. Had a demo of Galaxy at the shop. Pretty impressive. Only thing didn't find in the SETTINGS is how to enlarge the font in messaging/emails as I don't want to use my specs all the time and that's one of the major reason of using the iPhone.

The sd cards are class 2 and slow for writing all that hd info to card so i use 8gb with class 6 which was in my box..Videos look poorish because as i thought its recording in .3gp format,,spotted it straight away....MP4 are less fuzzy but .3gp i can tell because of the effect it gives,,after all most early videos and recordings were .3gp due to what it stands for ..

.3gp used to be in 2002/2003 stand for third generations protocol/platform and was low bitrate to allow for video conversation on the new third generation networks.Their is also .3gpp standing for third generations partnership project..In other words new types of codecs to make easy use of 3g networks even tho it reduced quality..

Since last night ive listened to 4 hrs podcasts and 2 hrs mp3 on a big journey..I did a little twitter and some web ...My comment is when you check settings--about fone--battery use the display used 88% of battery...Last time when i was messing about with galaxy sand checked battery use it said 94%..it so amazing how much of the battery goes into powering that display..I have it on 25% at moment but if anyone uses it on 100% briteness that would mean that all battery used would be on the screen ?
