I absolutely love my Samsung Galaxy S. The 4 inch SUPER AMOLED screen is phenomenal and the speed of the processor is very fast. The only downsides are the lack of flash and faulty firmware (Android 2.2.1 Froyo). I kept getting TW.LAUNCHER FORCE CLOSE message so had to factory reset lost all my apps and personal data. Updated to Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread through Kies and it is fine now.

Ics, 14 Jul 2012Sir, i am new in smartphone. I decided to buy a 2nd hand ph... moreI'd say go with the sgs and put ICS on it. It's great. Right now I'm using slimrom v4.2 and devil kernel and this device is still a beast. My brother owns a SE Neo V. He upgraded it to ICS via official update and it made the phone a little slower. Also I've run Temple Run on both devices. SE Neo V was more sluggish.
Besides that another advantage is that SGS is difficult to mess it up while flashing the firmware. Sveral times the phone wouldn't boot up after I've failed to flash the ROM properly (I didn't know how, I was following lots of guides online - mainly XDA forums), and using Odin I was able to resurrect the device each time.

Ics, 15 Jul 2012Thank u very much for u'r suggestion. I decided to go with ... moreOk just did some pics. With my curtains pulled and medium daylight(overcast) pics are fine. Then i went into hall and shut doors so i can see, but it was dark. The pics were no good even when i changed settings. However when i selected night mode the pics were very good. I dont have much experience using night mode, but what i remember is you have to hold the phone very still in night mode to not get blurry pics, and also i believe it not so good for capturing a moving picture .....but then again thats also true in most cameras even if its daylight. The sound chip is apparently very good in sgs, i read someone in sgs3 gsm forum talking of the 3 phones, saying that sgs2 has a yamaha music chip which was not as good as the sgs audio chip. Plus there are many music player like "poweramp" that really improve the music player. I also found sgs slightly more user friendly. A large 4inch screen or larger like the arc s is deffinetly better on the eyes...and gaming, viewing of course.

Ics, 15 Jul 2012Thank u very much for u'r suggestion. I decided to go with ... moreWell i dont think i have ever taken a picture outside at night with sgs. Inside it takes good pictures and videos....(ill try one in a minute when i put a charged battery in). I rarely use mine out ...to save dropping it. I tend to use an old x6 or mini pro for outside.....and pretty often i have noticed i take worse pics with those when i have the flash on . Just yesterday i again noticed that even though it was dim inside the flat, when i took a picture on my x6 with the flash off it was much better, than with it on. Adjusting the exposure really helps if its dim to get a good pic. Im sure having a flash (video light) helps, but generaly pics dont seem to be improved for me.

I decided to go with sgs, but a little bit worry about no having led flash. Night time pictures and low light area could be darkish and noisy. Dose it huge matter on picture? Thanks in advance.

Ics, 14 Jul 2012Sir, i am new in smartphone. I decided to buy a 2nd hand ph... more ok if your not a potential gamer then hopefully i covered some of the other things relavant for you. I have sgs, i bought it refurbished about a yr ago. Its very good! The thing is i had to get it updated via a samsung service centre to gingerbread, but it was perfectly fine running froyo. I also have xperia mini pro, and my partner has xperia arc s. On both phones people are posting (at gsm site) that ics is stopping games working (which is as its new still to developers) but also lots of people are posting about many bugs and issues. It has been mentioned that sony put out the ics update a little to soon. Anyway, arc,arc s has an excellent camera and hdmi lead capabilities to view media, pics on tv. Sgs has tv out which is good. I often play modern combat 3 multiplayer on my tv using a nokia tv out lead and the sgs as a controller. The sgs gpu seems to work better with games. I see many xperia arc users talking of issues with the adreno 205 gpu. Personally the sgs suits me better as i am now a gamer once again in my late 30's (as games are so good graphically and playable, and often free). The samsung app store offers some pretty good free premium games from time to time. On the camera, well sgs has no camera button...you need to touch a button on screen, plus no flash. But its fine for me, just not as pratical as a button on top of the phone. I know you mentioned another sony phone, but im just comparing what i know, and partly recommending the arc or arc s. Also the sgs is far easier to use the file manager for moving files, pics etc back and forth to sd cards etc, and it also has a hotswapable sd card ability, which means you could for instance move pictures, vids on the sd card to the phone memory, then take out the sd card when the phone is still on (as its hotswapable)and then put in another sd card and then move contents to it.......and quickly. This is very useful for me, as i can then keep family media, films on a spare sd card, or also put the sd card into another phone to view things in hd with a hd capable phone (has hdmi lead and jack)....and vice versa. And ofcourse i can copy stuff from another sd rather than have to bluetooth many family videos over from my partners phone...(.which could take hours). The sony arc s and probably other sonys have strict security and you cannot move pics, media to the phone ......it all stays on the sd(unless you take it out). Also sgs has a MUCH larger phone(internal) memory which can be used also of course. I would go for sgs myself....but arc s for example is also very good...plus has a 8mgp camera and flash, plus camera button.

The help, 11 Jul 2012"is it upgradeble to ics? pls answer me...." S... moreYou can't upgrade Galaxy S to ICS because Samsung won't allowed Galaxy S upgrade to ICS, instead they gave Value Pack. If you want to upgrade your Galaxy S to ICS, good luck on that because you need to root your phone then format your entire phone.
