Samsung said the hardware in the i9000 isn't capable of running ICS. Samsung said that just as Google rolled out ICS for the Nexus S, if you didn't know - the Nexus S has same hardware as i9000... funny that, isn't it? And to add insult to injury the Nexus S is set to get Android 4.1 aka Jelly Bean fairly soon!
The short answer to your question is indeed no, unfortunately. However, you can actually get ICS on an i9000 if you know how what the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) is.
Putting ICS on an i9000 involves downloading specific files from various Internet sources, using software to "flash" these files to the phone, and being able to recovery the phone is something goes wrong during the flashing processes - this is known as "bricking".

To those people who keeps on posting that this phone is not good. I want to tell you that maybe you dont know how to use this phone. Maybe try another phone but I tell you, this phone is a lot better than iphone 4. This phone might be old but this phone's got a long way to go, atleast for me.

mind blowing smartphone...far better than Nokia n8 and iPhone 3gs, for high battery life one should use a 65k display mobile instead of smartphone.

Having used mobile phones since they were first invented, this phone claims the prize of being the worst ever. Atrocious battery life, unreliable connectivity, dropped calls, extremely erratic GPS, and an operating system that spends more time telling it's writers where I am and what I am doing than serving me. I will never buy an Android phone again. As for support from Samsung, non existent. And as for Kies. That manages to wreck each PC it's installed on, I don't think I've ever run it without it attempting to update something and only once has it done so and not failed! Over hyped rubbish, Android and the phone.

my samsung s charging system is bad. battery shows it's charging, but nothing comes to charge. have to use an external charger which is stressing me alot. what might be the problem?

Samsung Users,
This is the worst phone I've ever used. I've always been a Nokia user but due to the best reviews of Samsung in the market lately, I purchased Samsung Galaxy S but was a wrong decision. The battery life is really bad & am planning to sell this mobile.
Never Samsung again!
