anybody having indian version of the phone Has Google Voice search. I got this phone a week ago and found that some of the options Such as
Google voice search
Voice command
Are not there

All samsung has done is replicate the Iphone... moreHTC are nice phones but you only need to compare the specifications of the Desire and others to the Samsung i9000 Galaxy S to see that the Samsung is feature rich compared to the others. I was rooting for the HTC desire first but then I saw the Samsung i9000... only the HTC Evo 4G is better but that is not out in most parts of the world.

Can anyone please confirm that TV out works on this phone with normal Nokia TV out cables? Does it output only video OR video & audio ? How is the audio and video quality on TV?

Disappointed!! All samsung has done is replicate the Iphone 3g on an android OS. It looks exactly the same. Even the icons and the screen layout is same!!! It seems like they are promoting the iphone. With powerful hardware, they should have comeout with a phone that makes it samsung and not remind the user of an iphone. I would go with HTC Desire, Incredible or Evo.

I have had this phone for 2 weeks now and absolutely love it! It is everything it was advertised to be and more. The live wallpapers are fantastic and Swype text input is fast and so easy to use. The screen is just so beautiful and clear. Thank you Samsung!

My final opinion of this is that it will easily satisfy my needs for the next 18 months (yes - I even went from 12 months to 18 months for this handset)...
Of course there will ALWAYS be a newer, better phone around the corner - that is the nature of mobile phones - but if you never buy one on that premise then you'll never get a new phone! Even the 'hallowed' iphone gets upgraded every year - so at some point you have to draw a line and buy one and then not look at what is coming until your contract is up! (otherwise you'll go mad and think "oooh I should have waited..." or "oh.. I wish it had that feature.."
Yes it could be improved - 512RAM out of the box would have been nice (Froyo will sort that out hopefully)
A thicker (longer lasting battery) could easily have been accommodated - especially considering how thin it is - a few more mm in thickness for an extra day's worth of usage? yes please.
Yes, it would benefit from having xenon (not LED - as you may as well have nothing if LED) - but again totally different design and thickness would ensue...
But fundamentally...
The day-to-day experience, the screen, the speed the potential power and the ease of use - means that these things listed would only be even more icing on an already nice cake...
For people that say "oooh touch-wiz is rubbish" or "not even widgets" - are talking through their hat...
Samsung's own widgets amount to about 4 (yes, that few) so what it makes you do (something I didn't with HTC) is start to explore android market for different appps and truly customise my phone to how I want it..
As for touchwiz - it's hardly noticeable - it's funkier than HTC Sense (in the way you sweep left / right to call / message someone) and the music / video player is second to none (something I do use as opposed to the camera)
And the camera still knocks seven bells out of HTC's cameras - they were appalling (and still are I believe)
It suits me perfectly. As for the Nokia 72 - isn't that more blackberry-ish? and obviously Symbian - personally not for me - but more orientated towards business I think...
The next big phone? (apart from the backwards iphone 4?) my money's on the Nokia N8... such a shame it doesn't have android on it...

Ppl,I am from chennai, I bought this phone a week back and have been tweaking around with the gadget.
Pros
1)Screen!! I am madly in love with it
2)Amazing video playback capabilities (support of Divx and Xvid)
3)720p video recording rocks(in natural sunlight though)
4)Fantastic touch sensitivity
5)Lightening fast Processor
Cons
1)User Interface
2)Lack of proper widgets
3)very ok call clarity
4)very ok speakers
5)No flash
6)Only 256 MB RAM usage bcoz of old kernel
7)Basic design (Iphone duplication)
The cons are something tht you can easily live with. The best anderoid phone in the world as on date.

sam, 12 Jul 2010im so excited to have this phone. i have ordered it today a... moreiphone maybe better.. but it is just too pricey. i don't think the features are worth the price. it's like half of what im paying is its name - Apple iPhone.

im so excited to have this phone. i have ordered it today and will be getting it 2-3 days from now. i have been looking for a a perfect phone. my criteria includes: design, features, and affordability. and it all fit my requirements. it is just perfect for me. i have had good experience with samsung phones for years, and i am ready to try this galaxy s.

Hi this is nice, but check out the iphone4 first.
as after the firmware it will be very nice. see:
-Fastest ioS4 on phone on market
-Antenna range boost and full bars
