Oh dear Samsung, another flawed diamond :( The screen is stunning, if slightly coarso on the pixel density. The sound quality is fantastic, even from the internal speaker. The build quality is good for an all-plastic device. The camera will do, the radio is great, the size probably hits bang on the limit between "big and beautiful" and big and clumsy", call quality is good, battery life is commendable and touch screen is super-sensitive. On my particular unit however the OS lags (you thought the HTC Hero was bad??) often sitting for seconds doing sweet FA. And as for the video quality, well, if you want to watch all your content in slow motion stop-frame animation with zero lip-sync then this is for you. I've converted using Videora, Samsung's own Kies software and several others. I've tried every resolution and from 320x240 upwards and used different sound settings and I've yet to see a video I consider even close to smooth. I owned the HTC Desire before this (the wife now has it) and it's leagues ahead on fluidity and video playback, even without its DivX out of the box. Why the !*&$? can't Samsung just get it right once and for all? The processor outguns the Desire's so it must be poor memory or software optimisation. Come on Samsung, was a tiny LED flash and remotely slick UI really out of your grasp? Bloody shame is you ask me :o/

iphonefan, 07 Jul 2010So Yes, I nervously say, android sucks too Iphone is ver... moreLOL,yeah, iphone is smart, in a stupid way. and maybe you'll look smarter holding the iphone in a way so you can make a call without dropping it.

BTW, Samsung Galaxy S has awesome specs, best we've ever seen so far in mobile phones.

But i have to admit i'll pass on this one, why?
            1. casing isn't that good. though the screen is breathtaking
            2. no flash light. it's not too much to ask for, even 1.3mp camera has this.

im sure next quarter samsung will release something better than this, also ive read about their new BADA phone, maybe better than WAVE. lets see... :)

aina, 07 Jul 2010hi frnds, i hv been facing a problem with my new galaxy. i... moreHi Aina,

Ooooh, it's a little bugger this one...

You have to import your friends from Facebook / Google / Wherever (if you've had a previous Android phone - use MyBackup Pro to export your contacts ONLINE.. best couple of dollars you'll spend)...
              Import everything...
              Link what you can...
Then export the whole thing onto your memory card...
              (still with me?)
And then IMPORT it back onto the phone - it will create all of your contacts on the actual phone so you can assign ringtones / groups / etc...
              Hope that helps!

Had to send my one back unfortunately because of 2 major problems
                    1. GPS
                    2. Connecting to PC (both with or without kies)

I really loved it for the 2 weeks i had it. Really amazed by its features. But its just unacceptable to have those two, very basic, faults for a 500-euro device.

Can anybody tell me what is the actual difference between this phone Galaxy S i9000 and Samsung Vibrant?

Is the Hummingbird processor better than the Cortex A8?

Which is the better phone and how?

Are there any plans of including a Flash?

You can do that with the help of Samsung Kies application.

                                      Got my SGS on Sunday.

I would like to mention some issues (may be applicable to Indian version only).

                                      1)Heating issue
I did not feel it on first day of use. But a very next day when replaced sim card, I could feel the heat at the backside of the phone.

                                      2)Lag...
There was no lag at all when I started using this beast. But I as kept copiing more and more stuff, I could feel siginificant lag on evey screen.

3)No scratch guard or any other protection available in market for this plastikey mobile... whenever I tend to remove the backcover of the phone, I have to take care as if the delicate plastic cover gets broken even a little bit, I do not know if it can be replaced with the new one.

                                      4)Installing third party apk files.
Please take care while installing any third party applications downloaded form the net.My phone crashed many times while doing so. I had to reset to factory setting again and again.

                                      5)No Camera Flash
