m3keni, 11 Jun 2010Hey man, can you confirm if your phone's RAM is 512mb or ju... moreI received the call from samsung and the supervisor informed me that he confirmed with his manager and they told him that the RAM is indeed 512mb but he also stated that there is no means to check the actual RAM of the unit.
He added that the information shown under Settings -> Applications -> Running Services is actually the available memory for use of the unit.
Right now my phone shows..
Available: 42MB + 124MB in...
Other: 75MB in 4 services..
I am still confused and I didn't get the confirmation that my Galaxy S indeed have 512mb of RMA onboard.
Any help out there?

and ya.. source code of GALAXY S released to public!!!

If we buy the galaxy s now.. which has android eclair... will we be able to upgrade to android froyo in the future? are would we have no choice but to stay with the eclair?

You addressed nothing I said. So I will merely repeat again for you.
Android OS has crap game support. Why? There is a huge spectrum of devices. The NDK is crap and still beta. There is yet to be a game that even sweats the ageing Motorola DROIDs powerVR GPU so there won't be a game that can even test the superior powerVR chip inside the hummingbird any time soon,
Also, If anyone bothers to develop high end native games like COD(Iphone) for the Android OS, Then it WILL be optimised for the snapdragon which is in at least 80% of high end Android phones. Nobody is going to go to the effort JUST for the Galaxy S and ageing Droid. They didn't for the Droid when it was new and had considerable market share, so why would they for the galaxy s which will have a smaller market share than the Droid. So snapdragon level gfx at best.
So, the ONLY time you will see the Galaxy S's hummingbird GPU performance is in open source ports of PC games like Quake 3 and Emulators like PSX. Quite a let down really.
Where the Iphone 4G may have an inferior GPU inside its SoC but will certainly see MUCH better games. In fact, I am yet to see anything native to android that tops the 3GS' COD

still not in the market yet (except for Singapore... moreyea..and thats exactly why they have had so much success. They announce and deliver. To me, I think that kills the slightest chance of the galaxy S toppling the Iphone.
But I'm def gonna get this phone..it'll be worth the wait. And I'm gonna be pissed if Tmobile releases the phone and cripples ANY capability of this phone. i.e. (video call feature. )

You can't get it in S,pore unless you sign up a plan with Singtel telco which they have exclusive right for the distribution of Samsung galaxy s. Not even the samsumg shop is selling!! Got it

ric, 11 Jun 2010No Led Flash?!? :(We do not need LED Flash. I use my Iphone over 3 years with no flash and had no problem. This phone great. You need flash there are other phone out there like Desire.

i just got mine in the mail today, it is absolutely gorgeous... can't put it in words how great it is. all the videos on the internet can't really show how great the super amoled screen is, but when i powered it up and held it in my hands, it was stunning. waaaaay better than iphone 3gs (which i had before), android 2.1 is fun and fully customizable, i think the best OS there is. waiting for the 2.2 update tho. the phone itself is very very snappy and fast, not much lagging whatsoever. overall i think is better then the iphones, the nexus 1s or the htcs.... THE BEST phone out there right now. the price is a bit steep, but is worth every penny!!!

iPhone 4 is gonna b released soon now. suprisingly, shorter period after it was being announced.
