In my opinion it's a big misstep from Samsung to not support ICS upgrades for the Galaxy S Plus:

ICS is a revolutionary upgrade, and one doesn't want to be left behind if you've bought a new Android handset in the past year or two: http://nvonews.com/2011/12/22/android-ice-cream-sandwich-things-that-make-ics-a-revolutionary-upgrade/

I was on the verge of upgrading to the Galaxy S Plus, until I realized the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S is the better option. In general, Sony Ericsson seems to be better at providing Android upgrades for their existing handsets: http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/sony-ericsson-xperia-arc-and-neo-in-ics-tests-1046051
