does your phone also have a textured matte back cover like noble's phone has? did you buy the black-brown one? please upload a pic of the back cover if you can. i am not able to find a galaxy sl with a non glossy back cover anywhere.

a bit off topic; I am enjoying my Galaxy SL.
Which is the best GPRS/ EDGE data plan in india?? I still think the 3G may cost more - no clear idea on the pricing side..> pls suggest>> ; - by the way I can connect to my wifi for apps download n sinc. I am on Vodafone 2G.

Got my Galaxy SL on 14th. Same like Noble - 18431 Rs + Free XMini Speakers from Letsbuy. Still exploring phonw features.
Screen is awasome. No lag observed.
Only problem is - Not able to play mp4 HD-720p videos (1.5 , 2.5 GB files). Installed Meridian, yxplayer; still cant play those. Trying to figure out, what is wrong.
Installing android apps took some time but at last did it.(App installation requires account association & associated 3-4 steps)

@Raj how many times do I ahve to tell u that the phone has a gorilla glass and dont just keep on writing unless u r confirmed I am using the phone for abt 3weeks and the phone has 4x zoom.As far as the thickness is concerned,the new phone had to get thicker as there was an increase in battery size to compensate for the battery backup as the amoled consumes less power.The increase in thickness is negligible.Though the Amoled vs sclcd topic is quite debatable as many including me find sclcds better.And now comming to the processor,the omap 3630 is faster than the processor used in the hummingbird chip.Its the gpu department where hummingbird scores,u can refer to my earlier posts where i have explained the whole thing.The only difference which is worth mentioning between the galaxy s9000 and 9003

@Branded,yes the builtin video player is capable of playing mpeg,mp4,divx,xvid.The rockplayer is one of the best and realplayer and mixzing are also good.

The best way to transfer apps to SD card is by... moredude.. i knw hw to move apps to SD.. i also have this apps2SD software in my phone too...
pls read carefully...
1) i9003's 4GB internal memory is split into 2GB phone + 2GB internal memory card...
2) I've put an extra memory card of 16 GB...
3) My question is.. wen i move apps using apps2SD software or manually.. all apps moves to this internal SD card (2GB) and no my external SD card 16GB..
4) Is there a way to tfr all my apps to external SD card of 16 GB which i put ???

The edges of the side covered by a metal finish dark brown strip - looks good. I am not sure the black one has a textured back option. Every other one were complaining about the glossy surface on Black ver.

@ i love to argue,it was me who wrote the thread explaining the cpu and gpu thing but I was not logged in at that time so name is anonymous.U can simply google it and u will come to know that omap 3630 is faster that the processor used in hummingbird chip.

Got this phopne yesterday for Rs. 19500 from Delhi
This is my first android / touch screen phone.
earlier I have used only Sony Erricsson phones and was extremely satisfied with Sony.
Main Reason for buying this phone :
1. Touch Screen
2. HD Video Recording
3. Android
4. Large 4.0 inch screen
5. For using 3G Servcices
Pros /cons : Can't say much since this is only day one. Anyhow I will put my first impression of this phone :
Cons : 1. I like the Design of the phone -- Visually appealing --- Looks quite good. sleek design. Easy to handle. Black brown color looks professional.
2. Touch interface is good. Easy to use and navigate phone. Actually I like it too much.
3. Excellent image and video Quality.
4. Impressive Internet speed. WiFi is impressive.
5. Lots of features and Widgets
6. Looks better than iphone.
7. Easy to carry and handle.
8. Good processor speed.
9. Watching youtube video on Wifi was very fast with no lag.
10. I was able to play youtube HD videos in no time.
11. Browsing internet is Excellent
12. Exceelnt as a ebook reder. Comes loaded with 2 ebooks.
13. Skype installed from android marketplace and working fine now. Thanks
Not tested :
GPS, Music Quality, TV out functionality.
Don't know if this has Gorilla screen or not but screen looks quite tough and good.
Cons:
1. I did not like voice clarity. It was much better in my Sony phones. Voice was little heavy and more mechanical.
2. After using Wifi for continuous 4 hours , battery lasted only for 10 hours. My phone is dead now.
The phone tells you how much bettery is consumed by what applications. 27% was consumed by wifi and 25% by standby.
I am assuming battery life is only 1 day with moderate use. Not good :(
3. there is some problem in installing Android widgets from android marketplace. Thousands of customers have already complained this on android forum but google does not care. Pathetic support from google.
4. I wasted my whole day in trying to install widgets
and exploring phone settings, watching youtube videos, and exploring phone.
conclusion :
If you are buying it for entertainment purpose , dont look further , this is the best at this price.
For professionals I advice stick to your blackberrys or classic phones as this is too time consuming.
Above all I dont need GPS in India when every other corner there is a person to tell me the direction. Also GPS takes lots of battery and needs faster internet preferably 3G. Practically I think small phones are better to carry and also you dont have any tension / stress of loosing them and they also serve your purpose much better.

Congratulations on ur galaxy i9003. It indeed is a great phone.
Just one question, do we actually get a matte textured back panel on the brown 9003. is it like the one on Ace or the upcoming S2? i went to a couple of shops and checked the piece they had on display but is had a glossy finish like the i9000. they didnt know about the brown i9003. Also cannot find any mention of one online. The only galaxy i could find with matte brown back instead of piano black with blue dots "galactic" pattern was the Galaxy S 4G which launched in US in Feb. Can u please conform. Or i guess the last resort would be calling samsung or letsbuy helpline. Thnx.

Hi all, I have got my I9003 today :) first impression WOW!!!!!!!!!
I have ordered from Letsbuy with ICICI coupon for Rs: 18431/- incl. of VAT+ bill. - the best deal as of now.
And I have got a FREE Samsung portable mini stereo speaker worth 1300/-
Guys order from Letsbuy.com, its very reliable site. I have ordered on Wednesday 9th after business hours, They have shipped on Monday 14th; and reached bangalore today 15th!
I am yet to figure out all features of the phone, The display looks awesome! very bright and good blacks. I haven't experienced any lags till now.
Another important one: the model I have ordered was COLOR: Brown Black. order this one as it has a matt/ textured back; nice grip to hold. (One of the main -ve point that I have heard from many reviews were the plastic high glossy black body easily get finger print and scratches)
By the way, this is my first android! I will do a detailed review later some time. let me dive in to my galaxy! - mean time, please share tips and first time set up tricks, info, tips..cool apps..etc from more experienced guys...
