I purchased it for Rs 16900/- Its a value for money phone. Display is very good with good screen resolution. Browsing is charm on this phone. Only drawback is that I have to charge battery twice a day on heavy use. U can't get everything in this price. Till now I don't regret the only drawback I have observed.

There's more custom ROMS avaliable for I9000 & only a handful for I9003...

Better go for google nexus s I9023 at 20900 INR while this is 17900 INR.
Only difference of 3k.......

Battery last for 6-7 (used for calls, browsing, fb, texting, video, radio, mp3) days before reaching 20% battery level. But still waiting for GB 2.3 which Samsung promised months ago.

very baaaad bateery performance, just last (after a fully charged) for 12 hrs (max) :(
but all mob future is rocks :)
any body had this issue ?? :(

i am owning a galaxy sl (gtI9003) for about 4.5 months now.
pros:
*Android Os , one of the best os in the present days
*large screen,: one can see movies and also ENJOY them
*Excellent video player that plays varieties of video and that too in high quality(doesn't play blu-ray quality though and also there are some formats like mkv that aren't playable)
*Very good sound quality
*lowest price for a mobile phone with specs: 1ghz processor, 512mb(+) ram, 4+" screen
*great touch (not as great as iphone but iphone is OVERPRICED)
*Efficient multitasking without crashing(unless you open 10-20 apps, which is really a crazy thing to do)
*Superb video recording
Excellent camera(compared to nokia/motorolla 5mp cams)
*Fast bluetooth connectivity
*Sd card can be removed by just removing back cover. no need to remove battery
*very good battery backup(lasts 2-3 days on moderate use, unless u go crazy and install some stupid application that keeps running in the background or if you dont close the apps u have opened using inbuilt task manager)
cons:
*lower display clarity compared to amoled screen of galaxy s (gtI9000)
*sound recording is not upto the mark (just like an ordinary dumb phone) both in the sound only recording and video recording. However the same mic works great while on a call in handsfree mode!!
*galaxy s I9000 has got official update to android 2.3 but Galaxy sl I9003 hasn't
*there is no close button for certain apps like music, video player, internet browser....(long list) So one has to manually close them using task manager. Quite irritating.
*Resolution is not that great(although very good0
*Sometimes crashes/ hangs(may be because of some of the faulty apps i have downloaded, I'm not very sure if its the phones fault)
*Inefficient use of the processor (say, u use a certain feature in the background, requiring heavy processing and hence the process is executed slowly. But if u check the cpu usage, it would not be even close to its maximum usage. also if u open another app, u 'll find that both the apps function at the same pace had they been functioning individually), though this doesn't happen always and for all processes
*some inbuilt apps keep crashing and there is no way to remove them except by rooting
*GPS is...well tooooooooo bad. in fact it is so bad that one has to stay for over 10min under crystalclear(lol) sky to get the correct position
*camera has no flash... very bad.. i've just purchased a micromax phone for a price less than one-tenth of it, and it has got a flash too!!!
**Speaker though produces clear sound, is not very loud.
*The only "ACTUAL" disadvantage over iphone4 i have found is the build quality. But iphone 4 is priced about 1.5 times as that of this phone (which is too much. That's why I hate apple...all its items are EXTREMELY OVERPRICED)
Comparison to Nokia N8:
Nokia N8 is very responsive to touch, has good camera, flash, better screen(amoled)...but If use it for some time u will realise that it is DAMN slow. One of the most hopeless multitasking feature(cant expect more from 640mhz cpu) cant use two apps simultaeneously. It really gets over ur head if u are copying a large file(which 'll take a large tim in n8) and the try to do some other work like opening a document, video etc. Also n8 is symbian, so less apps.
If u are considering N8 instead of galaxy sl, i sincerely recommend that u change ur decision
Comparison with N(:
The price of N( is more than that of galaxy S2. and feature wise it is better than galaxy sl....well that doesn't mean buy N9, but it means that compare N9 with galaxy sII(gt I9100), not with I9000 or I9003. (take someone of ur own size). I have never even seen a galaxy sII or N9, so i dont know anything about 'em.
comparing with motorolla droid phones: Well, i 've seen a couple of droid phones (my friends have 'em), and i dont know much about their names or features. But according to what i've observed, the motorolla droids have a poor battery backup, and they offer lesser feature and screen size for the same price.
Comparison with iphone 3: Iphone 3 is outdated. apple better scrap it. Useless for its price. Don't even dream of purchasing it instead of galaxy sl

Hello guyz.... I hav a prob in ma phon... The android market in ma phon gets automatically updated to version 3.1.5 which i hate coz it is not working well in ma phone... I want the old 2.2.6 version which runs smoothly on it... I hav to uninstall the update everytime whenever i hav to use market... Plz help me out how shud i remove its update permanently???

Guys I didi something with my phone.
I restarted it, filled the PIN code and then the phone wants onethe PIN for unlocking the sim network.Did I broke the phone's system.Can anybody help me.Thanks.
