Let me give u some tips from my experience using this beauty n beast. In my country Samsung is selling the G model but I was lucky that I bough a Europe set because I was couldn't wait till they launch it here. Ok, the main different with the G and non G is the processor and the GPU. The G units using a Texas instrument processor which is cheaper and slower processor compared to the original one. It is clocked at 1.2ghz but when tested it only goes up to 900++. And the GPU cannot support some of the games which the original S2 can support. I got this info from one of the website. I have seen the performance of this phones when I compare my friends who bought the G model. they are slower then.mine and they hangs
Originally mine was 2.3.2 when I bought it. I didn't have any pink or yellow or any tint problem with my display but I seriously had the out then heating up problem. sometimes I feel the heat when the phone is in my pocket. but after upgrading to 2.3.4 no more heating problem at all.
Battery drains das, yes does. u have big display with the best display. u got some widgets running.. what do u expect.. If it drains charge it again. its so simple. get a car charger if u use a car or get a external batt .. originalbatt is 1600mAh , get the 2000mAh from sumsung. trust me iphone batt is drains worst then this. But I read after the2.3.6 update the batt life is better. so I am waiting for it.
My advise to u, do not buy the G model. if u can't get the original model then go for note. Note is better. its not too big as we think. I have tried it fits comfortly into pocket n the display is perfect for gaming movies and internet. NEVER BUY THE G MODEL..
S2 is a beauty n a beast. Get it ull never regret..

1. 3G Services are operator independent and you need to pay for it to the operator. This phone has capability to run on 3G service.
2. Do not worry on Anti-virus, first of all there is no major incident on virus issues till date on Android device. In case if you want to install, you can always install anti-virus from Android Market.
3. I am using I9100 (G) version myself and believe me there is no heating issues and good battery life (at least 1.5 days with little bit internet and games). My device is running on 2.3.6 version and now same version is also available on non-G phones. In future, before update or rooting your phone, you need to make sure that it is specific to your handset (I9100 or I9100G)
4. I have not find any display issues on my phone. If you go through this forum, earlier it was in non-G phones but after 2.3.6 update it has been resolved completely.

I initially dropped the thought of getting sgs2 coz my country has the non-international version (the one with G in the sgs 2 model) and thought of getting Note instead but it's huge. @.@ Well, good news is that I just found out that there are still a few units without G available in my country. I was so delighted but hesitant at the same time. So I'm doing further research and that's why the post here :)
Anyway, I've been spending hours reading these comments, reviews, and opinions here.
Most agree that sgs2 battery have short battery life and heats up easily which I think it's common not only for sgs2 but on all other smart phones coz it depends on your usage.
I read that many who have updated their sgs2 software version from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 have improvements in their phone's battery life as well as the heating up issue.
However, some complained that they spotted unusual colors at the corner of their phone screen when they are playing games or watching videos. Also, yellow and another color (off hand forgotten) are very bright while games and videos are being played. Probably it's just a minority number of those phones that has that kind of problem, I hope.
I'm just wondering also (4TH QUESTION), if I were to update to the new version (2.3.6) in my country, would I get the G's software version?
Well, apparently the difference with the G and no G is the international phone (or something like that) OR some Chinese software (told by the staff at one of the Samsung dealer store I visited last week). Not sure which though. That's why I need help. I've Googled for the differences between G and without G but I still don't really understand what's being said.
So please answer three of my questions earlier if possible and also the 4th question posted here.

And to intruders (other than Android phone users), stop posting that your phone is better or the best coz it all depends on personal preferences. To all phone users, why wanna argue or compare who has the best phone? If they wanna compare, let them be. It's not worth trying to win the best phone "fight", won't get any prize LOL except pride -__-

I am unable to update my S2 in india for 2.3.6.
First step of updating kies completed. I am getting stuck @ firm ware upgrade step inspite of broad band connection & having disabled antivirus.

Then you might get to know on what questions to ask on forums like this.
First get to know the major pros & cons of android and whether out suits your usage our not.

Hi, I might be getting sgs2 soon and if I get, it'll be my first touch screen phone/smartphone. But just a few questions:
1) Do all the sgs2 come with the 3G service or do I need to pay more for it?
2) Is the anti virus or the like already installed in the phone or do I have to install it by myself via the apps (or wherever else)?
3) When you update your software to a newer version, does anyone of you experience any kind of problems?
I'm hoping to get more than one response. I don't wanna end up regretting buying the phone.

Hi All,
The new firmware 2.3.6 is good, try it for better battery performance, better WI-FI/3G (H+) receptions,
overall good so far.
got it via Odin, there is a non-wipe version (your current data will not be deleted) on interent, just give it a search there are lots of sources.

happy new year to all...i am using samsung galaxy s phone since june 2009 and that time my frnd brought iphone 3gs. he can upgrade upto ios 5 but i can not go aka. i have awesome screen and good to watch movie and he has not but my in apps area...iphone is awesome. now in froya galaxy is hanging and apps not working properly it hanged but i did not see that iphone 3gs hanged .....great yaar.Kies is totally useless really most of us upgrading software via 3rd party not via kies is it right na??? what a great support from iphone and every upgrade he feels good as compaire to me, and i hanged with froya.....and in end of the story iphone is more stable and good software support and good apps always make interest in interest and very stable apps not like samsung. this is all story about my feel b/w samsung galaxy & 3gs. but same problem will come after some time with samsung galaxy s2...i am sure...500%.
