respected users of s2 today i just updated my mobile by giving it in service centre now am facing many problems most of that is wen i connect it to pc in kies it is displayed that 'your device is not compatable to update from kies 'and signal is frequently lost and many many plz any one help me in dis issue why dis is happening..shud i give it in service center again

In regards to viruses or bugs, I'm using bit defender mobile security. I don't know why I chose it, but it does the job pretty well. It filters all applications that i download from the market before it gets installed in my phone, making sure that applications are free from viruses. You may not ask but aside from using the task manager of the phone in killing running applications in the background, there is also another application in the market that you could use and it is called advanced task killer.
In addition, you may also try downloading apps and games in the Samsung apps store. You will find there 3D games(which are not found in the android market) which you could download for free and are exclusively for Galaxy s II, like asphalt 6, avatar, assassin's creed and other 3d games from Gameloft.Enjoy!

Many thanks dre! And having a factory reset/reformat on my phone before an update to 2.3.6 would be the best coz it'll delete bugs and viruses hahaha! Anyway, so 2.3.6 is the only official version that samsung approved. I guess I'll just go with that at least its guaranteed from sammy!
BTW, what's your anti-virus installed on your SGS2? Is the firewall feature already installed in this phone meaning to say I don't need to download anything at the market? I believe avast is for free because I'm using that anti-virus as well for my pc. Is is free in the android market as well and is it that effective to trace any virus? If I could just treat you something or pay you for this info I already did coz you helped me a lot already!

I'm really excited in having my phone upda... moreDon't bite the 2.3.7 just yet because the official stock number released by Samsung for all GSII units in Asia-Pacific, India and other countries is 2.3.6. In other words, other stock roms which are not released via KIES may create problems that Samsung might not be held liable with. I suggest we wait for the official one which for sure is just around the corner. Who knows, 2.3.7 might already be skipped and Samsung might decide to port instead Ice Cream Sandwich which was promised to come to GSII in the first quarter of 2012.
Reformatting the unit is tantamount to doing a cold reset or factory reset. This may be done to delete some bugs or glitches, so it is safe doing it.

I'm really excited in having my phone updated to 2.3.6 from its stock 2.3.3 when I got my phone last 2 weeks ago. It has some changes that I really want to feel especially having the battery life increased and lesser heating (warm feeling at the back of my SGS2 while playing games) and other sorts of stuffs.
Dude is this true because 2.3.7 is already out in our country? Coz this sales guy in a Samsung Shop stall in gateway cubao told me it's the latest. Or is it still 2.3.6 which is available and stable right now?

At least I'll be able to detect and remove the problem that irritates me with my new phone. I'll just have them handle my problem. Besides man you're right, they already know what to do. If they messed up, it's not my fault, threfore, they'll have to replace my phone with another new phone! Hahahaha!
Anyway, going back man, so factory reset is same as reformatting? Just like a computer when you want to start fresh again you have to reformat the cpu, is that the same term in phones which is doing a factory reset?

[deleted post]Hi! I was the one who replied to your post earlier. It is advisable to do a factory reset, anyway your phone is just two weeks old. However, doing so will erase applications and contacts in your unit, so I suggest you do some data back up. You may use KIES for this, but if the technicians will do the update for you, you need not worry for they already know what to do since it is an SOP for them to do the program back up. God bless!
By the way, it really is important to do the update due to some noticeable changes in stock 2.3.6. It will already allow you to play videos in portrait mode which is not possible in 2.3.3. the gallery responds so fast, loop scrolling of pages in the desktop screen is also possible whereas in the old version, once you reach the first page/screen, you can't go to the last one, camera functionality works even better, etc.

The contrast in playing good quality videos is giving orange and yellow colour more prominence...this is not good...only drawback with 2.3.6 :(

Jus bought this phone today,its on 3 mobile network(UK),as soon as I switch on or off the phone the 3 mobile greeting message is displayed....i dont like it...Could anyone please tel me how to get rid of this????

This phone sucks.SO many bugs.It's my 3rd replacement.Now this one won't charge.Tint issues and camera malfunctions.Samsung you suck.This PIECE OF CRAP is a waste.

Noob questions again for a new SGS2 user like I'm.
I've tried pressing the "Clear Rom" feature on task manager. What does that feature do btw? Is it bad to do it habitually? And tw launcher means touchwiz launcher ayt? That's the only launcher I have and i believe its the default launcher for this phone? I'm having sudden hung ups and freezing notifs on my phone sometimes (If I'm not mistaken I have recieved 3-5 notifs with the same problem). What do you think? Is it the unit itself or is it because I just need to update my 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 (or any latest version available here in the Philippines) to solve my problem? Is it ok or ideal to reformat my phone before I update it to 2.3.6 because I got this phone from a Samsung shop 2 weeks ago. Thanks a lot.

guys i upgraded my s2 from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6, their has been some problem with my videos player. videos now have really high contrast ratio than earlier, that looks bad. all yellow and orange shades more. this problem is for both videos that is the one have shot and the movies i have downloaded. friends plz suggest any answer for my problem. rest every things works very fine.
