i bought this phone a month ago and the web brousing was superbly fast. And the screen is amazingly crisp. Best phone.

Technology is not stagnant though. You'll have better hardware, software. there is no point in comparing those 2 phones. A linux kernel v/s microkernel. Its pointless though,
Android is a eye candy, which has enormous potential. What you said is correct, UI of symbian is outdated,no match to android. I am not a nokia fanboy to have all positive with N8, i'm a regular user and love technology. I own many of the current smartphones.
In regular usability symbian really rocks, its a feature rich OS, but android is still a child, lots to learn and we want that to be more feature rich.

stop comparing n8 to galaxy s2. n8 was released on 2010 while s2 was released on 2011, given the time, s2 will have a more updated hardware... n8 is the greatest camera phone i have used and still using today with some capabilities of multi-tasking. while s2 on the other hand, is a great performing, very animated phone i have tested. s2 absolutely wins on everything. i had opened 18 apps and still not feeling any slow down on the device. i am particularly impressed by this. a super phone i should say... :)
even if i am using an n8 now, i still humbly judge that s2 is far Better than n8 except on camera (still images)...
s2 rocks... :)

and yes i have used n8 too.. have u had multiple webpages and a hd game running in the background n tried to type a msg. well i faced this situation once and tried it on myself a couple of times n the fone used to lag. wer as the s2 doesnt. obviously no one wud leave hd games running in bg, but here im talking about processor speed. i was much impressed with the s2's speed.
symbian works as good as or say better than android but its looks and layout is seriously outdated.
n8 has an aluminium body but s2 is much lighter. have u ever seen a smart fone so light. when i researched on the net before buying s2, even i used to have questions abt the feel of it. but after having it, i dont feel that its plasticky. moreover its sturdy too..... so its light weight, doesnt feel cheap and sturdy too. what more can one ask for.
ya some ppl may like heavier and solid fones in their hands. thats entirely upto the individuals choice.
microsoft may provide better apps but it will certainly not be as large n varied asthe android market. and next yr?? a person buys a n8 today and he ll wait till next year for some good apps to arrive??
my dear s2 costs more not only because of dual core n ram. there r so many areas where this fone has an edge over n8. explained so many in my previous post. and its worth every penny.
n 5 mil. handsets sold across the globe within 3 months, excluding the US.
obviously ppl r not dumb to just go and buy any fone blindly
one person comes out with an idea n everybody copies him n tries to make something better. thats how it works. if it wasnt for this, there wudnt be any competition in the market buddy. and it would solely be apple's monopoly. nokia copied blackberry when it started making fones like e71,72...
almost every mobile company copied apple's idea of a tablet. and now u got htc, samsung, bb, windows, lenovo ..... 'n' number of tabs to choose from.
consumers get so much to choose from only cause companies copy from one another. and look at the current market , android is giving apple a run for its money.
so im not saying n8 is bad or it doesnt do the job well...n8 is pretty good and easy to use but s2 wins in almost every aspect. comparing them is futile. peace.

I agree with the specs... moreThe 256 mb ram in N8 is not even enough for browsing large webpages without gigantic lag, and the slow cpu cannot handle Flash 10.3 and even struggles with FlashLite! The S2 plastic is not cheaper than the N9 plastic, S1 felt plastic but S2 does not! N8 is very bulky and aluminium make it heavy and less durable because plastic is better at absorbing collisions when dropped... then metal is! The metal does not absorbe anyting and does not protect the internal electronic from collision-forces when dropped..., metal is not better than plastic when used on phones!
