s3 will not get kitkat 4.4 but atleast they fix the 4.3 problems that will be more helpfull for all s3 users.

You have 'Multi window' turned on. There are three ways to turn it OFF.
1) To turn it off temporarily hold down the BACK button on the Home screen for a couple of seconds. You can turn it back on the same way.
2) To turn it off permanently pull the notification bar down and scroll to the right and turn off 'Multi window'.
3) The long way round is to goto Settings/My device/Display/Multi window and untick it.

Most of these tricks require root, but the result is well worth it.

Does anyone know how to get rid of that annoying white tab w/the blue arrow?? The only way I have gotten rid of it is if I keep hitting it for a few minutes. Is there an easier way to remove it and prevent it from returning??

I listen to music, browse the internet, and daily use the fb app, whatsapp, sometimes even record videos and click pics.
My battery lasts for 1.5 days. Sometimes even more.
I'm on 4.1.2, but even if someone's on 4.3, the battery life cannot be so different from the previous version.
Make sure you do not have any auto sync enabled. And also see if you have any app installed which is using a lot of RAM in the background.

Using ODIN doesn't affect your apps at all; all it can do is flash new Firmware onto your phone. All you have to do is flush out the cache partition before you start, flash new Firmware, and then flush the cache partition again.
I know that it doesn't remove any of your apps because I have just flashed my phone again with I9300XXUGND5 (the latest version of v4.3)and ODIN didn't remove ANY of the apps on my phone; only a full factory reset does that.

I used Titanium backup, but that needs root, to reinstall everything, but all your apps... can be reinstalled from Google Play!
