Android 4.3 rewrites the EFS Folfer (which amongst other things holds your IMEI number etc) into a new format that previous versions of Android cannot read. That is why your IMEI number can't be read by Android 4.1.2
You will have to reflash your phone to v4.3 for it to work.

please help me I have downgraded my s3 from 4.3 to the sad leaked 4.2.2 then to4.1.2 (all software from Samsung-updates)
then I saw that from about phone>status>Normal
and iemi has changed From 35xxxxxxxxxxxxto004xxxxxxxxxxxx
and sim don't work and
notregiested or network
and when I searchsoftware updates it says failed to contact server
please help me quickly

samsung forgot flagship phones .. no updates nothing. just making fools, customers to buy s3.
Instead of purchasing thousand of bucks together for this kind of smartphones better to use, basic hand sets of Nokia.
No battery problem
No signal problem
No hanging problem.
No heating problem.
Expecting technology in hands means have to wait til s15. (with latest technology).
Last but not least " any phone you can pick and say Hello" either you buy costly smartphone or basic handsets.
Huge expectation i buy this but not able to meet my expectation, instead of fulfilling my expectation lot of problems( battery drainage is big problem, God knows about when this problem should resolve).
Good bye to S3.. and samsung mobiles. . . .

i'll teake S3 instead to alcatel idol x cause the battery problems & Heating ... please i'm asking advice if i buoght The S3 i'll crying for the battery too or it's ok ... or ican found a model in sony checked and it's performace is good in specs & battery ... thx all

Warranty should not be an issue since this device is not the newest any more.

I enjoyed using this, usability is simple and easy to understand, however after all the samsung updates I installed, battery life lasts me max 4hrs. Using it for business is a huge let down & hindrance as it now costs me time to charge and time cost money, so I am now looking to change to possibly Sony or Apple.
Samsung improve your system or you will be left behind.

It is really a superb mass phone guyzzz...battery drains quickly of about 4 to 5 hours of full usage where all android smartphones gives only 5 to 6 hours at a full use...
You can really get s3 instead of s4...because no much difference between them...
S5 is really great...
and at this current price rate of Rs.23000 to Rs.24000 it is really worth...
If ur price range is 20 to 25 u can buy this....

I got a new Samsung S3 mini, dissapointed in the battery life. Any advise how I can make it last longer, other than switching off GBS and 3G?
