Anthony, 08 Aug 2013What about when you install official firmware using Odin 3,... more@ Anthony

I not 100% sure on that question because it's never bothered me whether the counter is on 1 or 101. I only install new Firmware through Odin.
I use a S3 Mini as a 2nd phone and I just flashed it with firmware from the site I listed earlier to test the theory. After flashing the binary count was still on 0 (zero), so I'm guessing that it's only unofficial firmware that increases the binary counter.

I ask this because I was expecting my count to be higher, and trying to figure out why it's not.
The only thing I did different from you at the beginning of the year was. Do a Kies firmware initialisation.

The binary counter increments by 1 every time you install unofficial firmware. Your phone will only receive 'official update' OTA notifications if the counter is at zero.
It doesn't matter to me because I never use Kies and official firmware is always available earlier from the Samsung servers anyway. Check on:

        http://samsung-updates.com/

for the official firmware. That's where I always get mine from now.

AnonD-252, 08 Aug 2013"Mobile Odin" is not the same as "Odin"... moreWhat you are saying makes no sense to me.
Explain how I can return to stock ROM to get OTA or kies updates or warranty if I need a rooted phone to install mobile Odin?
Having the phone rooted doesn't prevent the above 3 mentioned from happening?

"Mobile Odin" is not the same as "Odin", and "Mobile Odin" does not increase the binary counter! It is very easy and totally riskfree to root S3, and it is rooting that release the full potential of Android! Warranty... can be made come back by using "Triangle Away" and then use "Mobile Odin" to install any stock firmware from Samsung.

It might just be a 'hiccup' with the charging mode. Let us know if it does it the next time you charge the phone.
A friend of mine was plagued with a blue LED flashing all the time. It turned out to be a Gmail that arrived but without it showing anywhere. We had to uninstall his Gmail account and reinstall it to remove the LED indicator. Weird huh?
