Better front and back camera
Faster CPU
Bigger battery.
BTW the SII is better than the SIII mini as well.

I think the problem was with the software... if this happens again and I do the Samsung apps update and it still fails, it is definitely a hardware fault.. are cameras replaceable in S3 ?

I rooted my s3 but didn't flash using any custom rom..just a simple root.. am I still unable to update to the official 4.2.2 (when it's released someday) through OTA?

If you want an empty chip, you can have the full 16gb
But if you want a functional smart phone the programming and a cache partition has to be stored on the chip instead of the Samsung phantom zone.
