What is freezing the phone at boot-up could be stored in the Cache.
btw removing the battery in not hard resetting, that is about the same thing as a soft reset.

After using amoled display , I never thought about lcd screens. Super amoled is king of mobile screen.

i bought this phone 16gb model...5 days restarted by it self and stock on samsung logo wtf is this shit??i tried to hard reset, pulled pattery and let it without battery for a day and same problem... the worst phone i ever had..

Freefaller...Yeah both are the same. For me the phne is running real slow with playstore and downloading. But thats the idifference with 3mobile and t mobile. Both companies are good in various way. 3 is the only one fast enough for online gaming, and downloading consistancy. My girlfriend is on tmobile also, so I know they often have slow days. The web is ok.....but for 15pcm (even if its 4 month before 3 contract ends, its a bargain). I haven't even used the sim...since it's up to me to pull out the micro sim or not . So its in my other phones for everday calls txts. I'd rather not use the micro adapter I have...since I have an xperia min pro also to fit a card in. Nte t self....no more phones now LOL!

Can you go to Settings/About device and tell what the Build number and kernel date is please?
I'm asking because I flashed my phone with the latest ROM (again) with Odin a few days ago and the build number is i9300XXEMC2 and a kernel date Mar 11.
The new ROM is fast, blisteringly fast! The dialer and contacts load instantly - no more delay.
There are also a few new apps in the drawer... Play Music, Play Magazines etc. and the phone is generaly a lot, LOT faster now.

You "think" it was 4.1.2 update? Was it an OTA update?
Updates are a bit haphazard. Some countries get an OTA update first and a Kies update later, and other countries get their updates the other way round.
I can't tell which way round it is in the UK because I stopped using Kies a long time ago, it's just badly programmed bloatware in my view.

It's 'smart stay'.
In a nut shell, Smart stay watches you watching your screen. If you are watching your screen, it keeps the brightness up at a high level for the best user experience. When you stop watching your screen, Smart stay knows this and the screen dims.
Smart stay uses the front facing camera on the Galaxy S3 to periodically look out for you – the user – and make sure you are still focused on what is most important (the phone.)
You can turn it on/off under Settings/Display.

upgraded? from N8 2 S3 nd really miss my nokia. cant connect 2 surround system via usb, alarm dont go off even wen battery dead not 2 mention battery life. sooo miss my camera.

I have s2 and it works very well, but the battery isn't enough.
